Happy to say another very excellent kit finished and painted. Border Models have produced an extremely crisp, well fitting and very very detailed example of a Panzer IV. I’d describe this kit as a cross between the excellent fit of a Tamiya and the incredible detailed of a Dragon Smartkit. It also was the catalyst for me to buy a new Iwata Eclipse Airbrush as my chinese copy had reached the end of its life.
Paints used: Tamiya XF-88 Dark Yellow 2, XF-89 Dark Green2 and XF-90 Red Brown 2 for the camo. Tracks were a combination of XF-63 German Grey, XF-84 Dark iron, XF-64 Red Brown and pigments.
The tracks were very nice to put together with a slight sag between each of the guidewheels. The armor skirting hides that of course, but its a nice touch to an excellent kit. Highly recommended.
That sure does look to be one beautiful well detailed kit. And you did excellent work on the paint. I have a question on the build though. Do the directions show the rectangular opening for the hull ball mg mount going up & down as you have it here, or side to side as in this photo?
Tried plying it loose last night, but I think Tamiya extra thin has it stuck pretty tight.
Only one solution for this, I’ll have to buy another one and do it again
Great job on one of my favorite tanks! I wish that my LHS could get Border Models. However, their distributor, Stevens Int., won’t carry them. I can only get them from Andy’s Hobby Headquarters.com. I’d rather see a product before purchasing.
