Bondo Glazing and Spot Putty

Haven’t I read where some of you guys use this stuff? I hope so, I just bought some. How does it comapre to Squadron Green?

I switched from Green to Bondo. It mostly behaves the same but at a fraction of the cost
And easier to find it.

Yea, I saw it at Wal-Mart for like 3 bucks…so I grabbed a tube. I was in that section anyway getting some sand paper.

I use DuPont Spot-n-Glaze Laquer putty (the red stuff) because it’s has a very fine texture. I do have a tube of Bondo but feel the texture is far rougher than the DuPont and takes a little more work to get a smooth finish. but that’s a personal preference and you need to find what suits you best.

Well, I just put some on a bad seam on my current model. I plan to let it be for about 45 minutes and then give it…em , heck! We’ll see how it compares to Squadron green.

i also have just switched from Squadron Green to Bondo [:D]. it has a finer grain than the green, has a longer working time out of the tube, sands and feathers better than the green and all round, to me anyway, a better putty [2c]. one thing you have to watch out for, is after you open it a red liquid will come to the top. the advice i was given for this was to knead the putty with the top on the remix the liquid back into the putty.don’t knead to hard or you will open a pinhole in the side of the tube (believe me i know[:I]). also apply putty in thin layers as this putty is lacquer based. if put on too heavily it will deform the plastic.
