Bomb bay for Monogram HE 111

I just started building the newly re-released 1/48 scale Monogram HE 111. It appears to be a sweet kit, however, I was disappointed to find that the bombay cannot be displayed open, like in the older B-24 and B-29 kits. What gives? Furthermore, I recently acquired some German bombs and a bomb loader and would like to build a small diorama of the bombs being loaded into the plane…circa Battle of Britain. Are there any aftermarket sets available to make this conversion and display the bomb bay in the open position?

Any help would be appreciated,
Joe

eduard makes a pe set for this. ive never seen it but their stuff is pretty good. greatmodels.com shows the set in stock. hope this helps.

I’ve seen the bomb bay built up & it is pretty damn spectacular. I imagine it would challenge your folding AND painting abilities though, as it’s very detailed & there are lots of little nooks & crannies that’ll need painting. Eduard actually do 3 sets for the 111, consisting of cockpit, exterior and bomb bay. Overall, a pretty comprehensive update. Must get that kit when it reaches the UK.

Thanks, for your assistance…Check out www.scalemodel art.com for my progress on this kit. There are also some pics of my recently completed Hasagawa Spitfire Mk V and Tamiya ME 109 E there also. Constuctive critcism is much encouraged for I am relatively new to scale modeling.

I bought the Old kit (1st issue) and was lucky to get the Cocpit detail set the external detail set and the bombay detail set as well as the Resin control surfaces replacement vacuform canopy set and the White metal gun set! Now! If I can just get it built!

I put Eduard’s OLD bomb bay set into my Heinkel. It’s great, but they’ve since released a newer, more accurate version. Go for it, dude!
