How many out there think it is time for another 1/72 B-47? A re-release of the old Hasagawa kit or, better still, new molds from them or another company. One in 1/48 would be nice but the 1/72 would fit in with the B-52, B-1 and B-2 kits on the market. Let me know what you think.
I think its a great idea. The B-47 is due for a revisit in scale form. A complete new kit would be best.
I can’t remember if they ever made a tanker variant of it, but if they did, that would be a great addition to a new kit of it.
Good idea, especially if it’s from new molds.
I’ve never heard of a tanker version but, then again, there’s a lot I haven’t heard of. I know they were refuled from KC-97s and KC-135s.
1/144 too small for ya’ll? The recent Academy B-47 is great!
I’ve heard the Hobbycraft Canada 1/144 B-47s were pretty decent too.
If they make a new larger scale B-47, I hope some aftermarket company will be thoughtful enough to make a conversion set to make it into the B-47 that was leased to the Royal Canadian Air Force as a testbed for the Orenda Iriquois engine that was to have powered the ill fated Avro Arrow interceptor. That’d be great to have sitting right next to a model of the Arrow on the shelf.
The B-47 was built as a bomber, EB, and RB. They never tried it as a tanker. However if you want to make “A what if”, it would be a very interesting subject.
Oops! I bet the B-47 I have is Hobbycraft, as upnorth mentioned, and not Academy. Better check the box again…coulda sworn that was Academy…
It was Academy. Are they in cahoots with Hobbycraft Canada? Or is the Academy B-47 all -original?
Anyway, it’s a good kit. B-47B/E.
Hard to say J-Hulk.
I know Academy is Korean based, but Hobbycraft Canda has a lot, if not all its current molds made in Korea.
I’ve not seen either kit while it was stilll on the sprue to compare parts breakdown, but I’ve seen both made into really good representations of the aircraft.
FYI, EB-47s were not new built aircraft. They were all modified B-47 bombers
This is my favorite bomber, I’d love a new 1/72 scale even better would be a 1/48 to go along with the Monogram B-58.[t$t]

The Hasegawa 1/72 B-47 is an excellent kit that really doesn’t need to be redone. All too often, new kits have more errors than the old ones. There are after market kits for the cockpit and to make it an EB-47H like the one at Eglin AFB, Armament Museum. I would sooner see the model manufacturers bring out something that has not been done before. Those possibilities are endless.

Useful information, James. Sounds like you know your stuff.
BTW I will gently poke you, because I think that’s a record 10 years for a Zombie thread.
