Boba Fett Armor Finish?

I’m finishing up a Bandai Boba Fett kit, and I find myself waffling back and forth about whether I should give the green armor plates of his suit a gloss or matte finish.

I’ve seen movie stills that support both. One shot from cloud city in a well lighted area clearly shows reflections from the armor plates. Most others seem to be dullish.

Also, I’m very happy with my “chipping” effect on the plates (sponged silver paint). I wonder if a dull coat would make that less realistic. A mix of the two doesn’t seem feasible because of the size and complexity of the chipping scheme.

Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Well, you could always overspray him with both and then take photos and compare to see which one you like better.

I imagine his armor got dusty after he left Cloud City and arrived at Tatoonine at Jabba the Hutt’s palace. The stills may have been taken at different stages of his appearance, whether in Empire or Return.

I’d say flat - weathered scale models gnerally look better that way. Please post pics, as I’d love to see what you have done.

I will also say flat and yes please show us some photos.

Why not go with a satin or semi gloss finish on the armor.

It looks like flat is the way to go. I tried a test with a bit of scrap painted the same color with chipping, and gloss just looked weird.

I’m finishing up this week. Pics coming soon.

Thanks for the help!

Cool, looking forward to the photos!
