Hope you are enjoying in the the Holidays.
I just got the present from my LHS A “Blue Thunder” 1/32 scale of Semina from Korea (It may be copy from old monogram) I hope you known it because it was a movie and series when you were young. The instrustion is Korean and I cannot guess what color I have to use. So, I so sorry to distrub you at the happy time right now. Who has the old Monogram’s instruction of this Helicopter? I need to copy please help.
Wish you a merry Christmas have a good healthy all whole New Year and get any models you wish!!
Thank you
It’s been ages since I saw that movie the last time, but as far as I can remember it was very, very very dark.
Maybe black with a little blue in it ???
Yes…but all of instruction is Korean. The cockpit interior I guess it should be Gray May be same as Huey and the exterior may be mix I saw from the Official website of Blue Thunder the color is looke like the police form (Blue) so actually I need the English version of this instruction. By the way thanks for your suggestion.
If you can, why don’t you rent the movie and check the colors for yourself?
There’s no better reference (it’s probably better than the instructions!), and plus, it’s a good movie. Any movie that has a helo shooting down an F-16 or two is worth watching again!
J-Hulk
I have seen in the movie (VCR) when I was young and I never saw the TV series also. When I was young every movies are fantastic and great. The helo series that I’d seen was “Airwolf” But “McGyver” is my feverite. Oh…How old I am?
Thanks so much for your kindly help especially Cobrahistorian. In fact, this is the first time in Thailand for real Earthquake/Tsunami (Tsu = Port or Pier and Nami = Wave) it far from my place so much. Do not worry now. Our Redcross need the Rh- Blood Type very much for the foriengh tourists (Corcasian). They can serve only 1/3 of Victims because ther Rh+ type is for Asian (I just knew) and it cannot instead of use.
I have the Monogram Blue Thunder 1/32 scale kit # 6036 model. The box says it is molded in metallic blue but it is not very good. I’d repaint it with metallic blue. I have instructions if you’d like a copy. Also found it easy to do the cockpit instruments with a “Sharpie” fine point marker using a couple of magnifing lens. I have a lighted magnify lens attatched to my modeling table which helps a lot. I’m building my Blue Thunder chopper as a high-tech TV/radio news copter.
Those images and blueprint plans of Blue Thunder on that website are really nice and good reference material. Tried to print them out but my printer cuts off part of the images. Is there some way I can print off the full images?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! chevit2001
I think I can help
There were two aircraft build based on Aerospatiale Gazelles. The fuselage was modified using aluminum and spray foam with a glaze overspray. One aircraft was fliable the other was not. The forward cockpit was an extension of the aitframe and did not have any working flight controls. All live controls were in the back (Original cockpit).
The aircraft were modified and operated by a company in Long Beach California called Associated Helicopter. The company is now out of business and in fact one of the pilots who flew shots in BT died while flying making the movie Delta Force 2.
One of the ships went to Universal Studios in Los Angeles California the other I don’t know it’s fate.
Having been in and around the BT ships I can tell you that the color was a special mix if Dupont Imron paint. It was a dark blue semi gloss pretty close to Model Masters Non-Spec blue just a semigloss. The interior plastic and fabric was close to a light Aircraft Gray with black exposed metal frames. Seats and consoles were semi gloss and flat black.
