Blasphemi

This is my long term attempt to build my version of Mike Finnagan’s Blasphemi. A '55 Chevy gasser that runs a 8.52 @ 161 MPH in the quarter mile. That’s fast! Normally, I build evrything else that is stock or mostly stock and this one is a Chevy with a Mopar 528 CI Hemi in it, so it might qualify as a build by me. I am still searching my parts box for parts and I need to find a satin black for the body which has a flip front end. My thanks to Doug Estabrook for the kit!

More Blasphemi to come…

Looking forward to following this project.

Hello!

A photo of the real thing would help here…

I’m not a big fan of the “gasser” front axle/look, but I’m a big fan of 55/6/7 bel airs, so I’ll be watching, too!

Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

That is moving for sure! I’ll follow this one along Mike. Big fan of drag racing.

Another big fan of drag racing. I’ll be watching too.

Stay Safe.

That is really quick. Put that in perspective modern super cars can’t break 10 seconds and 135 mph.

Those are the numbers in NHRA where the rules tighten up.

For satin black paint I use John Deere “Blitz Black”. It comes in a 12oz rattle can and I get from a local John Deere dealer. It looks a bit ugly going on but drys to a very smooth satin finish and it can go on bare plastic ok.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the tips!

Here’s a picture of Blasphemi, Pawel! Like I said previously, I am not a fan of drag racing, but this '55 Chevy with a Hemi engine appeals to me!

I have made a change. I happen to have found a 1/24 scale '55 Chevy Gasser also known as the Monogram '55 Chevy Street Machine. This should help me a lot better than the AMT '55 Chevy Bel Air Street Machine kit that I received earlier in 2021. I have my Hemi engine with it many hop-ups, but this will not be an exact copy of Blasphemi. It may be close, but not exact.

More Blasphemi to come…

I’m sure you’ll look at the photos and say to yourself, “What has he done?” I removed the side moldings from the body. At first I used a coarse sanding stick followed by my Dremel. The Dremel removed most of the molding and a fine sanding stick is helping to smooth it all out. I still have a ways to go!

In case you may have been wondering, I have not abandoned my Blasphemi project. With the passing of a member of the Classic Plastic Model Club, I have a need to work on Blasphemi and finish it for our Expo in October. Our late member had a love for '55 Chevys and the goal is for me to finish mine for our Show.

I assembled the wheels and tires which came from my parts box. The Hemi engine is partially assembled and awaiting to be painted. I hand painted some of the chrome parts including the grille which I know to be incorrect. I have to get some PE material for the grille.

More Blasphemi to come…

Can’t wait to see your work on this.

Stay Safe.

Very cool build. Gonna love to see it come along.

I too have thought about doing one of these, but I have to get a Two Lane Blacktop 55 done first.

Thanks Jim and Brandon!

I clearcoated my Mini Cooper and I am for the most part, not happy! I washed, air-dryed, primered and painted the Mini and when I clearcoated the body, the paint ran away from the door edges. Arrgh!

More Mini to come…

Ahhh. Bummer dude. BTW not Blasphemy

That sucks. Always something. Dust, splatter, runs, never a dull moment.

Arrgh! I did it again! Engage brain before putting hands in gear! This belongs in my Mini Cooper WIP thread!

Oh? You can do TWO build threads at the same time? I can’t even keep track of the parts in a box long enough to complete just one build[*-)]

Seriously, good luck on both. [H]

Thanks Steve! I’ve had as many as 4 builds going all at once. I had to cut back for my sanity! Now, where is that part I was going to paint?
