Blacken-It works on Karaya!

This took 60 secs to get to this colour, so if you use it, dont turn your back! To get the same effect on Friul took 10min.

Well, outstanding.

Thank you very, very much.

You know I’d been wonderin’ about that. [:)]

Interesting. I have a Panzer III/IV track link, and it actually looks a bit like that, except it’s bigger, [:p], and it’s a bit browner in shade.

On the upper edge of the tracks it looks like ejector pin markings! Say it ain’t so!

Glenn

maybe the real tiger tracks had injector pin markings too [:)]

hey what method is this explain

did you just hold it over a flame

Yes those are pin marks. I remove them once the tracks are pinned - run a wire brush attachment in a rotary tool over them - takes all of 60 sec to do one set.

how do you do this method

JF, you need to open your eyes a little[8D]. Blacken-it is chemical the causes a reaction with the surface of the metal, thus causing it to turn a weathered brown. All you do is dip and then your let them dry.

Wow, ejector pin marks!! i rather stay with friul.

I rather stay with WW2 Productions! They don’t weigh a ton, and they snap together in about a half hour.

I have not tried them but they do look good. Unfortunately two sets for my sturmtiger project would set me back $120, and there is no UK retailer that I can find

where do you get Blacken it from
im hoping on getting some WW2production tracks late this year (im off to the land down under for December)

Can’t speak for the UK but here in the states you can get it all over the place. Example:

They really have to put up a website. That would really help move their pieces. I just got the Tiger II tracks and they are quite nice.

Why would you need two sets? Was the chassis lengthened? WW2 gives you extra links, and they may have a special set for the Sturmtiger.

Dsotm’s doing a Diorama with 2 Sturmtigers
maybe there $60 dollors a set here? i thought they were about £35 over here

I checked with WW2 - their previous Tiger kit also had 45 resin parts for the turreted version but its been discontinued, and the kit now costs £25 from http://www.pdi-model-supplies.com/ locally. I order my Blacken-it from the US - no local supplier.

You can buy it in the UK from specialist model railway suppliers.

Don’t be put off by the Mainly Trains monica, they do an awful lot of stuff suitable for military dios as well.
