Choruses of ‘Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!’ It is done! Praise the modeling gods!
In all seriousness, this was the most challenging kit I have ever attempted. It ate putty and superglue like candy, utterly devouring all my supplies! This kit sat in my supplies cabinet for 4 months due to my initial disgust with it…[yuck] Such as it is with Amodel kits…[|(] Still, I enjoyed the challenge, and ended up with a resonably accurate AC/NC-123K.
Kinda-sorta…I think the basic bodywork is there for a candlestick craft, but no decals as such. But I could be wrong…They do have kits for the “ranch hand” C-123’s.
Now all I need to do is scratch build flare racks![banghead]
‘Ranch Hand’ a/c weren’t used for "Candel’ missions because of the corrosive nature of the ‘Agent Orange’ compound would tend to ‘interact with pre-igniton of a 1 million watt flare’![8]
Not to mention a 37mm hit in or close to a rack![:-^]
"Keep your 'Bug Eyes on at all times; make sure your harness & 'chute aren’t on the same side; remember your Call Sign in case something goes wrong! Have al good flight; steaks & chicken on the grill![dinner]
Well yes, of course, what I meant was is that the basic airframe for a Candlestick AC could be found in one of the ranch hand kits…candle’s had the blunt nose, right? These kits include noses for all three 123 variants (I think…). Me tinks even a well placed 20mm would do the damage as well…
Bug eyes on, sir! Call sign Black Spot, reporting for duty, sir! Chicken and steaks are cooking and ready for distribution, sir! (click heels) [oX)]
Very nice job. I lived just outside of Hurlburt Field, Florida from 1964 to 1972 as a kid. Among a very diverse mix of aircraft were a slew of C-123s in many configurations. It is claimed that the C-123 is the only aircraft to have flown in piston, turbo-prop, jet and glider configurations! I’m surprised that RATO wasn’t used as well. (Who knows, maybe it was)
