I have completed all of the sub assemblies on my Bismarck. I am now wondering about the correct colors for the deck and main structures.[%-)] Any help would be much appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone
It depends on what version of the ship you want to build. When it was first built, I think it was light grey all over. But later on the hull was a slightly darker grey to the main structures. I used enamels from white ensign on my Bismarck and they worked well. I used hellgrau 50 for the upper surfaces, dunkelgrau 2 for the tops of the turrets and the false bow and stern, and I think dunkelgrau 51 for the hull, I also used Schiffsbodenfarbe III Rot 5 for under the water line. The deck was a light wood colour, I used WEM teak colour. I recommend using white ensigns’ paints, they are good matches for the colours and are very easy to paint with. I used deck tan on mine and that seemed to work out pretty well!
