Bismarck Aircraft markings

For those of you that have built this fine ship, how did you get the markings on the two aircraft? I’m talking about the “stylized version of the Iron Cross” on top of the wing and underneath. The brain is fried so I don’t know the proper terminology, but I’m sure some on here knows. [:)]

This is one of the last things I need to do to complete it. I’m glad I didn’t know about this place before I started…PE parts look expensive…but awesome. [:)]

as it stands, i’m thinking about getting them for my Hood and Missouri that are next up.

good thing i’m not married…you guys are gonna cost me money [:D]

I found som “HO” scale decals (1/87th) for german armor that had the perfect style and size from a company called TL decals.

I found them just now in a google search but this forum will not let me paste a url into my post.

Those PE sets can certainly put a dent in one’s wallet but ohhh do they enhance the overall appearence of a ship model.

I believe Gold Medal Models offers a sheet of 1/700 aircraft decals that covers virtually all the major naval countries, including Germany.

Another possible source, if you have a decent hobby shop within driving distance (in which case, consider yourself extremely lucky): browse through the shop’s stock of 1/72 WWII British and American aircraft decals. Look for German iron crosses and swastikas used for “kill markings.” Mustangs, Spitfires, and Thunderbolts often have quite a few of them. Hitting the right size will be a matter of luck, but the trick is worth a try. The “stenciling” decals on such sheets sometimes can provide individual letters and numbers for 1/700 fuselage codes, too.

Thanks for the info. I’ll hit them after work. [;)]

I did a google search, but there were so many results…and after the second page, the results had nothing to do with what i was looking for. oh well.

thanks again [tup]
