Biggest Model Aircraft?

What is the biggest model aircraft you’ve ever seen/built? Personally, I have a 1/48 scale Revell Rockell B-1B Lancer, which is just over 90cm long and currently hangs from my bedroom ceiling, bomb bay doors open and wings fully spread (i.e. not in supersonic position). So, what’s the biggest you’ve ever done?

Lets see here,
Monograms ol but good B-58(1/48th),AMT’s B-52(1/72) and soon to be Monograms B-36 also in 72d[:p].
For 72d the B-36 is a BIG…!!![:D]

Done:1/48 Monogram B-29
Seen: Would have to be one of the ships at The Museum of Scinece and Industry(Chicago).

Didn’t we do this already?

Who knows but the Shadow do…[:p][:p][:p][:p]

Thats easy the Monogram B36 wing span of 3ft problem of where to put it now cured when my nephew decided to see how well it flew. Needless to say it didn’t and he nearly did. It still sits in my loft looking very sorry for itself but i can’t throw it away, i dont know why i just can’t so there it sits…Gregers

So far, the biggest model I’ve seen is Aeroclub’s 1/48 Avro Vulcan

Monogram B-58 Hustler.

Completed : 1/72 E3 Awacs, B1 and B52.
Big models are fun to build but when it’s time to store them, it’s less funny !!!

I’ve got my Heller 1/72 E-3 AWACS sitting on my kitchen table. Why did I ever buy anything that big? The only thing it’s good for is the cats use it as a scratching post…

If you include vacuform and multi-media kits, it’d have to be ID Models C-5 Galaxy (over 40"/102cm) long or Amodel’s Antonov An-22 (wingspan 38"/97cm). I have both. I’ve got a small start on the Antonov, and the C-5 is a “someday” project.

1:72 scale Monogram B52-D

Yeah I’ve got the Monogram 1/72 B-52 Stratofortress as well, but it really pales in comparison with my Lancer, as does my B-29.

I’ve got a really beautiful V-formation on my ceiling now - the 1/48 B-1B Lancer at the front, the 1/72 B-52 Stratofortress on the left (looking up), and the 1/72 B-29 Superfortress on the right. All symbolising the 3 main nuclear bombers from WW2, Cold War, and modern times. It looks stunning, needless to say.

Also, I have an Airfix AWACS sitting on my modelling table, just waiting to be built at the moment. I’ve had it for a year and a half, and still haven’t made any progress at all :frowning:

What about the Italieri 1/48 C130? It was also distributed by Testors. I do not remember the dementions, but If I remember right the wingspan is 33 inches.
I don’t know what it weighs but it is heavy.

The 1/48 scale Herc has to be in the top ten for injection molded styreen! rangerj

I am working on one of my dad’s old models–a 1/48 B-24J. Pretty big, and with the silver paint, it looks even better.

I.D. Models 1/32 B-29 vac-u-form kit. Now that was a monster.

How about the new Trumpeter Bear?

Or for that matter, how big will the 1/35th scale (?) Mi-24 be? The rotor span will be fairly large, no?

bernndye - are you serious about that 1/32 B-29? That must have been HUGE! Any idea exactly how big it was?
