I have a bunch of AM decals of 109E’s. I am a little confused as how to tell the difference between an E-3 and an E-4. I know that the E-1 and E-3 were produced together. The only difference being the armament. Did both the 1 and the 3 have the hub cannon? The 4 and 7 did not have a hub cannon correct? Was the open spinner hub only on 1’s and 3’s and the closed spinner on 4’s and 7’s or was this used on all? Thanks. John
E-3 had a rounded canopy with the frame lower on the side. E-4 had a square framed canopy and an armored windscreen.
Thanks. But I’ve also heard that 4 canopies with the armor were retrofitted to 1’s and 3’s. Oh the AMS of it all. John
Thank you Wayne. Gotta love ipms Stockholm. I guess I was wrong about the hub cannon on the e. I think now I know that the spinners were not particular to a certain variant. John
