Best "wash" color over RLM 74,75,76 ???

Hello!!

I know this one is for the" painting & airbrushing" forum, but I need a quick answer, so please forgive me.

I havejhust finished my Fw190 with RLM 74,75,76 scheme, all decals applied and sealed with future. Now I’m wondering how to continue with the wash.

The plane has raised detailes (old 1970+ hasegawa kit). I have allready preshaded with black. Now I need some wash to apply around the raised rivets. What is the best color for it? would it be Black, Dark grey, Redbrown?

Will post photos when finished.

Thanks!!!

I usually use black, but that can appear too stark on RLM76, except on a fairly dirty machine.

Alternatively you might want to try a dark brown, like burnt umber, or a dark grey on the 76, with a black on the 74/75.

maybe it’s best not to use a wash on this model. Because of the raised panel lines the wash wil work differently then with engraved lines. Instead of one line, two shadow lines will form next to the raised line (one on each side)
Dry-brushing might be a better technique on raised lines.
