Best Spitfire MK IX?

Hello

My friend has a relative who made Spitfire MK IX’s during the war and want to make a model for him.

I found the Tamiya 1/32 MK IX but it is too expensive for a present at around $200. I found the Italeri Beer Truck MK IX 1/48 which looks like a good meme. I can’t say I like the partially black and white paint scheme though.

Which should I get? Is the Beer truck kit worth getting?

Thank you

I recently did the new ROG release as a commission and IMO it is very well made and detailed. Most important they run about $30.

ROG has been turning out some nice 1/32 models for very good prices. I posted my completed build herevin the Aircraft section.

Any recent Tamiya kit will be a good build, & the Tamiya 1/32nd Spit is drop-dead georgeous!

Misses out the Italeri beer truck & the Eduard MK9, both nice kits.

ICM, Revell & EDUARD 1/48th kits readily available on the UK pages of a well-known auction site, as are Airfix and Italeri, but not a Tamiya MK ix

good luck

I’m currently building the Tamiya IX. It is fantastic.

I don’t have the ROG Spitfire mentioned earlier, but if their 1/32 kits of German warbirds like the He111 (I have built that one), or the Ju88, Me109G, and Fw190 (all in my stash) are any indication, their Spitfire will be a great value for considerably less $$$$ than the Tamiya kit.

Eduard - both 1/48 scale.
