What do people think is the best brand 1/48 scale Wildcat to get.
If you like detail, fit & accuracy, the Tamiya kit is the way to go. There is also a much older Revell/Monogram kit, but it is a much more difficukt build. The Tamiya is more expensive, but it is, IMHO, the better kit. Hope this helps.
Tamiya, hands down. (Unless you ask my buddy Dan. “Eh, the Monogram kit’s just as good…” ) Whatever… LMAO
Anyhoo, there’s another kit out by Sword, I think, and it represents an FM-2. It’s nowhere near as nice as Tamiya’s though, being a typical limited run kit.
You can hardly go wrong with Tamiya’s kit. Fits like a dream, too.

Sounding like it’s Tamiya…
I’m going to be doing a Dauntless too. By looking through the forums, seems like Accurate Miniatures is the way to go with this one. Everyone agree ?
Yeah, the Accurate Miniatures kit has an edge over the Hasegawa offering, but either would be excellent kits.
The only real downside of the Hasegawa kit (for me, anyway) is the fact that the dive brakes are not molded separately. This, in and of itself, isn’t even much of a problem as the brakes weren’t deployed on the ground often, if at all. (Probably only for maintenance.) But the cut-outs on the brakes would have to be drilled out on the Hasegawa kit.
In the end, except for the dive brakes, it’s really a toss up. The Accurate Miniatures kit enjoys only a marginal advantage in detail, mostly in the cockpit area.
