Best B25 Mitchell ?

I know everyone has an opinion, so go ahead and voice it here!
Who makes the best B25 mitchell in 1:72 and in 1:48
and who makes the best PE set for them?

// Claes

I am only familiar with 1/48 (the only scale that I build), and the choices (as far as I know) are Revell/Monogram/ProModeler and Accurate Miniatures. I prefer the Acc. Min. kit. It is well produced, although it is not without its shortcomings. Many modelers have made complaints of the engine cowl shape & the wing anhedral/dihedral. Best is a matter of personal choice, that is, which one is best for your personal needs/desires. The only P.E. that I would add to my Acc. Min. B-25 is seat belts.

Hi Trekki. in 1/72 the best B25 is without doubt the Italeri kit. the Airfix kit is very hard work and the Matchbox kit is not much better.

Just got hold of the new B-25J in 1/72 from Hasegawa and it’s a beauty!

It’s in the queue behind my Tamiya Mossie PRIV!

The new Hasegawa is the best 1/72, followed by the Italeri kit. The Airfix and Matchbox kits, as Greg as already alluded to, are really labor-intensive.

Personally, I like the old Aurora 32nd kit. [:p]

Seriously, Acc Min’s is the nicest 48th, but I wouldn’t build it without the Cutting Edge replacement cowls. That’s just me, though…

The 72nd Hasegagme kit is really groovy and blows any of the others in that scale out of the air. It may be the nicest kit in any scale, but I dunno how it fits. I don’t build little scale…

As to fixins 'fer 'yer plastic hobby kit, here’s a link to what’s currently available from Squadron, which is a pretty good cross section of what’s out there; brass and resin. As to which is best, you have to decide what you want to add and which set best suits those needs. But pretty much everything out there is well done with few exceptions. Although this, too, is a matter of personal preference.

Fade to Black…

Sorry guys i missed on the Hasegawa B25 .not even seen it…Greg

I was kind of bias towards the 1:48 scale, but since hasegawa and italeri is quite easy to get a hold of here in sweden (and acc.min isn’t), it looks like im going to have to go with the 1:72.

Thanks everyone!

I just picked up the Hasehawa kit yesturday, they had 3 of them. Im not sure if this is true, but a bid a/c builder that was there at the time said that Hasegawa has discontinued that kit. Anyone know if this is fact? If so, Im goin to get another, its truly a beautiful kit . I also picked up Trumpeters 10 pack of 1/350 B-25s. I plan on doing a runway strip of them getting ready to take off. Who knows, maybe I’ll just go and get another pack while Im at it. It was only $13 and you get 10!!!

can anyone confirm this?
Has hasegawa discontinued the B25?

The Hasegawa 1/72 B-25-J just became available in the US in September so I would doubt it would be already discontinued. Based on the kit layout I suspect other versions will eventually be released as well. I just started my build and so far it looks very good. Quite similar to the engineering found in the AM 1/48 kit.
