Best Acrylic Paint for Hand Brushing

Hello,

What is the Acrylic paint of choice for hand brushing? Or is there one?

Thanks, George

I’ve tried several & I get the best results with Vallejo. Andrea would also qaulify as it’s Vallejo paint in an Andrea bottle.

Regards, Rick

All the gamers I know of who paint their own like Vallejo. My son has used both Tamiya and Vallejo, and prefers the latter.

Tamiya is pretty terrible for brush application. Vallejo is much better.

Any of the miniature wargaming paint will work well also. Reaper Master Series, Vallejo Game Color, Privateer P3 Paints, Coat d’Arms and even Games Workshop.

My first choice for realistic models though? Vellejo Model Colour. Lifecolor works well also if you mix it with a little Golden liquid matte medium.

I’ve been told by dealers they are not the same paint anymore, but regardless, either is excellent.

I’ll chime in on this as well. I agree, Vallejo makes wonderful paint, both their game color line, which directly mimics Games Workshop’s colors. and their Model Color line which has a HUGE array of choices. I have used, at some point, reaper (hated it), coat 'd arms (like it, but a bit light on pigment), and what used to be Ral Partha now made by Iron WInd Metals. The Iron wind brand is actually excellent paint if it’s available, but all in all, Vallejo is still my first choice.

I really love their bottles, dropper system makes getting the same ratio of paint, or paint to ink etc the same each time.

Good luck!
Chris
