ok who makes the best M113 kit? Does anyone make the A3?
I havn’t built any yet but from what I have heard Academy makes the best M-113 kits.
I am sure someone will be along to shed more light on it.
Yes, Academy M113A2 kit is the best out there. No one makes an accurate M113A3 version.
The boxart on Tamiya’s newest M113A2 kit actually shows an M113A3, but he’s right. It is not entirely accurate for a true A3 but will give you the 80% solution and look cosmetically like an A3.
Tamiya M113A2 does look closest to an A3, but it has no interior and costs almost as much as 2 of the Academy M113A2s (which includes a full interior with engine compartment, crew, and gear, and optionel parts). Not to bash Tamiya, but I think the Academy is a better all around kit and deal. Tamiya’s is just a reissue of their old M113A1 with an extra sprue to bring it close to modern standards, however, you still start with the inferior Tamiya M113A1 parts.
