bergepanther...which one?

Anyone have any feedback on the bergepanther kits out currently? I would like to build one, but want to start out with the best “base kit” I have a Tamiya Panther G if anyone wants to swap. I know some of the early D’s were non winch, non spade. Would like a winch, but not dead set.

The cheaper of them would be my pick… [;)]

It’s been my experience over years that prove to me that “more expensive” doesn’t mean “more better”…[:D]

Bergepanther’s are on my list as well. I have a book that has all of them in it and it is a great referrence at a good price. I just wish I could remember the name of it. I’ll have to look it up.

CMK did a conversion that featured Tamayia basic parts along with CML parts to build it. I’ve never built this kit, but have a couple of the CMK/Tamayia Mobilewagons. I see them on Ebay every now and then.

There is a blog about the impending release by Tiger Models Designs’ version for the DML Panther G Smart kit.

http://www.track-link.net/forum/site_blogs/10417

Looks like it’ll be $150 and looks like it’ll surpass previous companies’ attempts.

Caugh…$150…wow. I would love to check it out though. Think the wifie would make me swallow a .45acp if I spent that kind of dough.

Ive got the Italeri one which is in the cheaper end of the market and you can pick it up over here in England for about £10. It is a good base to build from if you dont mind scrathbuilding certain parts and adding some better tracks , the tracks are ok but are of the rubberband type and the guide horns are to small.

[#oops]Well after looking at the detail and quality of the kit in the blog, $150 is reasonable for a kit that looks like it could drive itself off the table! Just not sure I’m to that level yet.

Don’t forget the $50 DML Panther donor kit to put it in…

I think CMKs is LONG OOP and very rare… I too have always wanted a berg G in my collection so now that TMD has one in resin someone will make a nice plastic one in about 6 months so i’ll wait… The TMD one is head and shoulders above the rest obviously and if nobody does a plastic one in a reasonable amount of time i’ll take a whack at that one…

Good luck with whatever you choose brother…

For 150.00 bucks it better do more than LOOK like it could drive itself off the table…

Anyone built the ICM kit? I found some on Ebay, anyone have more info? I’ve never heard of them, but like I’ve said before, I’ve been gone a LONG time.

Here’s a little something on the ICM kit.

I have the Italeri Bergepanther in the stash. It looks like a decent kit, and I did pick it up on sale, so no complaints there. It builds into a different version with than the ICM kit with the completely open top and timber sides around the open compartment. So I suppose at this point the question is which version you prefer to build. As a side note, my personal expereince with ICM kits is in 1/48 aircraft and 1/35 figures. I have had positive experiences with both. Typical Eastern European moldings for the most part.

I have both the ICM and Italeri bergepanther kits built here and I suspect that the ICM kit came from an old set of Italeri moulds. Both kits can be made into reasonable models. I used DML Panther D indy links on the ICM kit and I think they’re better than the indy links supplied.

For the Italeri kit I used Tamiya roadwheels, DML Panther A tracks, Eduard pe and a metal 2cm gun barrel. I keep getting tempted by the latest issue of the Italeri Bergepanther with pe.

So I think I’ll get teh PE Italeri version. I’ll build a diorama with a Opel Blitz parked alongside unloading a set of Tamiya roadwheels. I’ll have Hans and Frans on the ground pulling off the old ones from the kit and retrofitting the correct ones. Think anyone will get it?

Ya, today, and I replied… Sorry 'bout the delay, I’m in the process of moving to another apartment…
