Beginings of my 2nd 109

Quick update and question…

Almost finished my 109, it’s looking pretty good I’llpost some pics of the finished model tomorrow I hope, which leads me to the question, I’m trying to add the line that goes from the cockpit rear window to the tail fin, firstly I have tried to use some very fine fibre optic thread I have, but I cant seem to get it to glue to the part,I’m using Super glue as well.

So any other advice as to something better to use or a better way to attach it?

My finished 109 pics

That looks great Adrian, an excellent build there.

I assume you mean the line that runs on top of the fuselage. As i understand it from several comments on here, this should be a V shaped grove that runs along there, often filled in on kits in error. I didn’t know this myself until i had read about it. If i was you i think i would just leave it now.

h no, never noticed that, I was on about the aerial lines, but have sorted those now

Right, wasn’t sure if you meant the antenna wire, but as you had it sorted, figured you meant the other bit. Alot of guys use stretched sprue for the antenna, but i have setteled on fishing line, i find you can pull that nice and taught.

She turned out fantastic, nice build Adrian. [B]

I feel as though if you built one 32nd E-4 for each company, You’d have as many 109s used in the Battle of Brittainn

Adrian, that looks quite nice and you should feel proud of your results. Well done.

Update on my 2nd 109, well it’s been a complete mare to do so far, the resin cockpit was a truely aweful fit, so much so that it left a huge gap in the main frame, I’m now faced with the top and bottom filled and sanded but no detail left on them, any ideas on how to recut the lines back into the frame?

If I had known I was gonna struggle like this I would have skipped the resin cockpit.

One of the reasons (besides cost) I seem to want to build everything OTB, excepting a few scratch built thingies.

never scene these markings. who’ are they?

Well its been a long time since I updated about my 2nd 109, I’ve benn looking after my mom all last your while she dealt with Cancer. Shes been given the all clear now and so I can get back to doing more models, the 2nd 109 is almost finished now and I’ll post pics asap. In the meantime I have some other pics of models I have done since I last posted here, they are under the Aircraft of WWII ( european Theater) post I submitted if anyone fancies a look.

Sorry to hear about your mom, I pray all is well with her.

Keep the 109’s coming!

I’ve just been checking and it seems I have misplaced the canopy for my 109, any suggestions as to where to get a replacement, it’s a Tamiya 1:48th.

Not sure what their CS dept is like, could email them or buy a Squadron canopy. http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=SQ9623

.

Well it’s as finished as I can go , having lost the cannopy :frowning:

Just a few things about my build, firstly this was my first attempt at doing the mottles with my new airbrush, not perfect but in my opinion I dont think they should be  Also I am still learning to get the weathering right, I dont want to over do it but sometimes I think I add too little, so advice as always welcomed.

Thanks for looking

Looking great!

Lookin Good. As far as the canopy goes, vacuform 109 canopies suck azzz. I"ve found some hasegawa kits include 2 or more canopies and you can use the spare, might have to modify a little to make it look like an “Emil” canopy, but this includes researching the kit to see if it infact does include an extra canopy sprue. Maybe someone on this forum has a spare they could send you? I only have spares for “Fs” and “Gs”.

Try contacting the kit manufacturer, just tell them is was not included & it might take a few weeks, but you should get a replacement sent out.

Adrian, that is a mighty fine 109. Keep 'em coming!
