O.K. Treadheads, I’m an aircraft modeler for the most part, but I recently had the opportunity to spend some quality time with a T-72 MBT, courtesy of the Czech army.
The exact designation of this variant is T-72 M4CZ and it is a fairly upgraded member of the T-72 family, as evidenced by the Leclerc style optics on top of the turret.
Without further adieu, here’s a few pics for you. Now don’t say a wingnut never did anything for you![:D]
Well, Eric, the Hetzers and Marders may have been happening further west in the republic on the same weekend. I think I saw something on the news about some ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII in the western city of Plzen. I saw some folks dressed up in period German and American uniforms and some vehicles. I’m not sure if the German vehicles were restorations or reproductions, but they looked pretty cool.
The oldest piece of armor I’ve seen here is a preserved tank that is part of a monument to the Soviet troops who “liberated” Czechoslovakia in the north eastern city of Ostrava. I’m pretty sure that tank is a Stalin JS-3, but I didn’t have my camera with me the day I saw it, so I can’t share that one.
Thanks for all the good comments everyone, glad you’re enjoying the pics.
