I just watched the new shows of Battlestar Galactica tonight. Just wondering what everyone thinks?

I thought “33” and “Water” were both great episodes - particularly “33”. Great acting, outstanding special effects, and a very good set of story lines. I have no idea where the series is going…and I like that. I think this first year is going to be loaded with surprises.
I watched it when the first ran it several months ago.
I was a little annoyed by the gender swapping, but I thought it was still pretty good.
I thought it was great! The special effects were very good. This is one I could definitely get into. It was funny because I started watching it again when they replayed it and almost watched half of ‘33’ again.

I could watch Viper / Raider dogfights all day! The reaction jets are too cool. Those old MK.II are super agile if nothing else.
Can’t wait to see where the two ‘Boomers’ are headed
I almost never watch TV series shows, but this is one I plan to follow.

yeah it is brian. they made a new season recently and they are showing it on some channel that neither you nor i get. [:(]

All I can say is WOW!
As a huge fan of the original series (I was 6 when it aired) I was really not happy with the preliminary reports of the miniseries. I heard Starbuck was a woman and wrote it off right there. After the miniseries aired, I heard from several friends how good it was, but remained unconvinced. Most of them weren’t even born when the original series aired, and didn’t have the childhood memories that I did.
Well, I finally wised up and watched the miniseries and not only was impressed, but I’m downright addicted! Last night’s episodes were fantastic! I especially appreciate how they’ve incorporated elements of the original series into the new. And of course, I can’t wait to see what Richard Hatch does next week and if he’ll be a regular cast member.

What did you all think about the Cylons? I loved the way they flipped out their guns. Pretty sweet. [:)]
I still haven’t been able to catch the entire mini-series even though they have been playing it quite a bit since it originally aired. Thinking about picking up the DVD now. They have the old series on DVD too.
I was only 5 when the original series aired, although I’ve probably seen an episode here and there since then. For those who had watched the old series, is the new series really different from it? Were the Cylons that looked like humans in the old one or is this completely new?

Yeah, its completely new! The only cylon that looked anything human was Exeter, Baltar’s right hand…ahem… man. I loved how they had one of the original series Cylons in the museum exhibit. Too cool!

David, I’d say getting the miniseries on DVD is probably worth it if you haven’t seen the whole thing. A lot of the new series is character-driven and the miniseries gives a good first-glimpse and some definition to the characters.
I don’t think the original series had any human-looking cylons.

They are completely different. The original Cylons weren’t robots created by humankind. I think most people think they were but they were actually a reptilian race.
There were in one of the movies (at least one android), he (it) crashed with a centurion near New York on Haloween, together they located Wolfman Jack to use his transmitter.
I also was a fan of the original (was in college and about the whole dorm used to pack the TV room for it).
While I liked the special effects and the stories were pretty good, I had a few problems with ‘Water’. I finally figured out Boomer was all wet when she discoverd the charge in her bag meaning she was the one to set them but is unaware of it? But what was the purpose of the charge in the Raptor?
Other than that, very interested in how it plays out and now want someone to release some new models.
