Battle of Britain GB 2008 - 21 June to 31 Oct 08

Situation.
It’s July 1940 and England is alone with the might of the German army, navy and airforce expected across the channel any day, the only thing that stands between the Germans and the British people is the RAF. Hopelessly outnumbered they must fight for the survival of their homeland in one of the most crucial battles of WWII.

Rules of Engagement.
The rules for this are going to be fairly simple:

  1. Any aircraft that flew at least one authorised operational sortie with an eligible unit of the Royal Air Force, Fleet Air Arm, Luftwaffe or the Reggia Aeronautica during attempt by Germany’s Luftwaffe to gain control of British airspace and destroy the Royal Air Force in the period 10 July to 31 October 1940.
  2. Any scale
  3. OOB or as much PE & Aftermarket as you want.
  4. Crossover builds with other GBs are allowed.
  5. Old builds that have been sitting in the “to finish pile” for the last XX years are allowed. .
  6. The start date for the group build is July 1st 2008 with the completion date being Oct 31st 2008.
  7. This build is open to everyone regardless of modeling skills
  8. This current thread will be used for the group build
  9. Must have fun [:D][:D]

Badges
I have created the following badges for use during this build so use them as you wish but I’ll be going for the Spitfire badge myself even though I’m building a German aircraft as I think it looks hot.

Yessir, sign me up! [:D]

I’d love to Darren but I’ll have to keep it small as I am overbooked as it is. Maybe I’ll even finish the BR 20 that is still sitting in my unfinished stash from the last BOB GB. [:I][:-^]

I’m in with a 1/48 Tamiya 109E-3, if it qualifies.

I’m in for sure and will build a control tower, something that I’ve lately been interested in.

Scratchbuilt, probably in England. 1/72 certainly.

Mike the E-3 definitely qualifies.

Bondoman cool idea!

I’ve got dual posts for this for the time being (here and the aircraft forum) just to make sure I catch all potential members so sorry if things are duplicated. Also here is the list of aircraft that qualify for the build.

Id like to get in on this with a Junker 88. Iv got 2 other projects on the bench right now and not alot of time to work on them but Ill give it a whirl.

Hmmm… that might be what I need to pull me back from the “dark side” as I’ve totally been into armor.

If you do one, I have a Bf109E I’d like to build. [8D]

DUH, I posted over on aircraft. I would like to participate in a BOB GB and I have had a HE-115 sitting in the stash for a while. Its a nice strange and rare aircraft from Revell in 1/72 and since its on the list of aircraft its a perfect excuse to get it built, so count me in.

Steve

As I said in A/C - count me in with Hurricane or Spitfire, I have to do some reaserch

Thanks for putting this one together Darren, looks like you’ve already generated a lot of interest!

I think I’ll pull my 1/72 Hasegawa He 111H-2 out of the stash for this one, as well as a 1/72 109 or two. I’ve got four ICM 109’s on the shelf, I’m curious to see how they go together compared to the Tamiya kit. I’ve probably got decals to do at least 100 BoB era Emils so deciding on a paint scheme will be the hardest part!

Put me down for a 1/32 Matchbox Bf109E-3 with an after market cockpit set (I think Cutting Edge, but will need to check).

I’d like to participate, I’ve got the Tamiya 1:48 Spitfire Mk. I.

Darren - Put me down for the Cr.42 in 1/48, probably the Classic Airframes kit. Markings for the 18th Gruppo our of Belgium

Mike T.

Does it have to be in Battle of Britain markings? If not im up for doing a Italeri Fiat Cr42 captured by the RAF. If we have to have Battle Of Britain markings i will do a Spitfire Mk1 from the Tamiya kit or a Mk1 Hurricane from the Airfix kit with the Heritage aviation fabric wing.

Welcome to the build everybody it’s great to have you on board.

Scott, good to see you in on this and I’m looking forward to seeing your 109. As for the Cutting Edge cockpit can you still get those now that Meteor has closed down?

Gusty987 welcome to the build and welcome to forum.

Mike T. no probs you’re on the list.

Matt which Ju88 are you planning on doing, Hase or Monogram?

Ollie yes mate it does have to be BoB markings sorry.

Cheers

Count me in![tup]

As for what plane…[%-)]…I’ll get back to you on that.[:D]

Thanks Darson. You know, I thought that I had already bought one for the kit so I popped into my den this morning to look for it before I left for work… couldn’t find it so maybe I never got around to ordering it? hmmmm… that’s a bummer. I’ll do a little more digging tonight.

Which kit is better for the Ju88? Hase or Monogram, Iv never built any German Ac, I usally focus on american Ac, Im happy to be a part of this lookin forward to gettin this rollin.

For your list, I usually respond to “Bill”, or “Dad, you don’t know anything about anything”, but I’ll go with the first.
