Battle of Britain GB 2006 - 1 May to 31 Oct 06

Yes its that time again guys!!

Situation Report
What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over, the Battle of Britain is about to begin – Winston Churchill 1940.
It’s July 1940 and is alone with the might of the German army and airforce expected across the channel any day, the only thing that stands between the Germans and the British people is the RAF. Hopelessly outnumbered they must fight for the survival of their homeland in one of the most crucial battles of WWII.

Darren - I am in… not sure with what yet… first I have to do some heavy research and find something not on the list [;)] One thing though, in the title your dates are correct, but according to the dates in the text this started 3 months ago [(-D]

ok I’ve thought long enough… A warm up AC for the first of the build will be the Academy 1/72 BF-109 E4 “Heinz Bar” but I’ll have to do some fringe to counterract that as a second build.

P.S - That’s a brilliant roster!

Tom [:I] whoops I’ll correct that little oversight straight away.

does it start may 1 or may 31?

Man oh man. I need in on this GB but I have to see if a) I have time or b) I have a kit that works.

Flieger Offizer Barauskas reporting for duty! Tamiya 1/72 Bf-109E-3. I will step away from my OOB and add AM decals as well as some PE. Research has already begun…Looking forward to this for certain!

oops…forgot I still had the boy logged on…that post was for me…even though I am sure he is looking forward to checking this one out too (not participating though, height of soccer season for him)

Oh yeah, I’m in. Will start with a Tamiya 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf-109E-4 with Ultracast Resin, Eduard PE & AM decals.

Regards, Rick

Darren Count me in F/SGT Superbear reporting with a 1/72 Hurricane MK 1 of No 1/401 Sqn RCAF. I’ll be doing YO*R flown by PO H. de Molson.

Cheers

Bear

Don’t worry Darren , I was going to keep quiet and secretly start building realizing maybe the others wouldn’t have noticed… I would have displayed my completed pics on 2 May… [(-D]

Darren, I’m reporting for duty, just not sure on which side yet!

Like Tom, might need to hunting some fringe!

Glad to see the ‘Usual Suspects’ signing in.

Karl

Love the roster! OK, I’m definately in. Still have to finalise the Spit and bf-110 from the BoB’05 though…and now I have a date to get them done by! As for this time…another Tamiya Spitfire Mk.1a 1/48 scale; and this time it will be done and completed on before the end of the GB.

I’m in not sure with what the stash is DANGEROUSLY low on aircraft I’ll get back to ya on it

Osher - good to see ya back in the swing! I’ll enjoy building with you again!

Darren-please add me to the list. Not sure what the build will be, but I’m definatly in.

Hey guys it’s great to see all the usual suspects reporting in [tup]. I should have saved my time and just pre-populated the roster with everybody’s names to begin with [:D].

Oh yeah, sorry about the date confusion, it was late last night (early hours of the morning) when I was setting this up and I was pretty tired. The correct dates should now appear which are 1 May to 31 Oct 06.

Cheers

I may end up regretting this … but put me down for a 1/48 109Esomething… thank heavens it goes 'til Oct.

Sign me up Darren, I just ordered a Fiat Br. 20 M (Italeri 1/72) last week in anticipation of this GB. Woohoo! Edit: Does that classify as fringe?

You’re damn right it does Dave.

All I have to do now is find a site with Regia Aeronautica ranks for WWII [;)]

Cheers

Darren, I’m, probably going to regret this, but put me down for a RA CR42.

I feel like being Capitano Carlo for this one!

Just realised I already have a full set of decals for 3 different BoB machines from the other CR 42 I built, so all I’m going to need is the kit and some PE.

Probably go with Italeri kit in 1/48 again.

Carlo

Ciao!

Darren - sure… you have everything going fine till someone comes in and wants to throw a wrench in the gears! ::sideways look at Karl and Dave:: [;)]

I would think if this is a Capitano Carlo plane then Cpt. KJ200 would work. Their ranks mimiced the US ranks, Sottotenente, Tenente, Capitano etc… If Dave isn’t modeling a specific one then Sottotenente or Tenente would be his title.

(thinking I should change my plane to Polish RAF one and demand I be listed by my Polish rank just to one up Karl and Dave and further cause Darren to do deeper research) [;)]
