This is my first commercial base. I have a resin base of a brick street with rubble. I would like to prime and base color it and then, color/weather the individual bricks. I would like to have the bricks be a variety of reds and terra cotta (?). What color should I prime with and what color of base coat? How can I get a range of color variation on the rubble and bricks? I would appreciate your suggestions!

Hi Leddy. Do you have pics of the commercial base on hand? Other modelers who might have used the same or similar base for their diorama, can then post pics of their base and the colors that they used. This might help to better convey, as opposed to just giving color numbers/mixing ratios, etc.
I like to use a brown primer like Floquil RR tie brown. You can even use Craft Acrylics for this. To get the variation in brick color shoot or brush on what ever red shade you like then take that base color, split in in small containers and darken and lighten the shades then pick out your bricks for color variation. Oils washes wil deepen details and add shadows and bring out texture.
Rubble is painted more or less the same way. Drybrushing lighter tones will break up the objects in the rubble and add texture and demension.
