I finially broke down and bought Tamiya’s P-51 mustang. I want the bare metal finish, but my question is which company produces the best paint for bare metal??? Its a big change from RLM.
I think the consensus would be that Alclad II is the best.
Mike
Go with the Alclad 2, definitely the best way to paint NBM finish. SnJ is also good, but not as freely available as the Alclad 2. Failing that, if you have the time, you could use bare metal foil.
I have seen good results on models from people using Tamiya chrome silver acrylic or their silver spray cans. (you could also decant the paint and airbrush it)
I posted a similar question for a b-17 rescue plane. If you think of it let me know how the alclad works. For now…I guess it’s back to models WITHOUT exposed metal finishes.
Alclad2 is the way to go… refer to Swanny’s site for the goods and how to use it.
definetly alclad2!!! later.
Another alternative is Tamiya AS-12 BMF in a spray can. Excellent and durable product. You can get tonal differences but using black/grey and white primer shades under the AS-12.
cheers
