Ah, the 1990 era was the heyday of Japanese garage kits, when resin and vinyl often surpassed their plastic counterparts.
That Economy Labor you got there was in the first episode of Patlabor that I watched on TV in Japan. Bandai never made a plastic kit of it. We have had to wait 30 years for Moderoid to do a plastic kit.
What kind of paint and primer are you using? Back in the day, there were a number of hobby paints specifically made for vinyl kits. I recall smuggling a tall can of “Sofubi Savoir” primer back home on one of my trips.
