My dad has the 1/24th scale Bandai P-51 kit and while he can build the kit with the illustrations provided, he can’t read any of the painting instructions because they are Japanese. So does anyone have an old set in english, maybe even the Airfix kit might help. We are just looking for references on the interior , the engine and engine compartment references.

I hope this helps to some degree. I don’t have a copy of the instructions but I think most photos show the cockpit being interior green (of course with the usual black instument panel and boxes on the sidewall). The engines were generally black (there are some great color photos in the P-51 “Walk Around” book), and the engine framework was usually zinc chromate. Naturally the colors varied once they got out in the field and repairs/replacements were made. The photos in my books show the engine mounts to be zinc chromate but I also have pictures showing them to be interior green. I don’t have the books in front of me at the moment but I think this changed over to interior green especially after WW2. I’m sure someone who is more up on this can make any corrections but this is right off the top of my head.
