I got this kit several years ago during an aborted attempt to start modelling. This was my first time using a pin wash (Tamiya panel line accent colour) and it shows but not a total disaster I don’t think.
I’m blown away by the tooling of Bandai models. The precision fit and almost complete lack of any flash or mould lines is really impressive.
Don’t fret the panel lines. My first attempts at a new technique rarely if ever turn out exactly as hoped. I like the look you accomplished and you’ve got me looking for one to add to my Macross stash.
Looks great! Be careful using tamiya enamel thinner (panel line accent is basically thinned enamel paint) on Bandai kits though. Bandai plastic is notorious for disintergrating from Tamiya enamel thinner, so best to apply a top coat or use small amounts carefully.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to keep an eye on it. I’m working on another Bandai kit and was planning to use the Tamiya panel wash again so thanks for saving me from a possible future wtf moment.
