BAE Nimrod can you help

My Nephew has finished building his BAE Nimrod but has lost the instructions and wants to know what which colour to paint it. All I have is Tamiya acrylics.

Many Thanks

Hi Pete. If you know who made the kit I.e. revell. Or who ever. Then just go to their web site and see if they have the instructions to download. Or any company at all really. they should all give a colour roughly the same for the nimrod. Then just use a colour conversion chart on one of the web sites to see which tamiya paint to use… I use the hobby colour converter app on my phone. Tamiya vallejo humbrol and revell are on there and their relative comparisons. Hope that helps Pete.

See soon Kev.

Hemp is the name of the colour

No Idea what reference, its an odd colour

Humbrol 168 Hemp is what you need.

Hemp (BS 4800/10B21) over Light Aircraft Grey (BS 381/627) undersides.

Closest Tamiya match to Hemp is probably XF-57 Buff, close, but not an exact match. It’s an odd colour which can vary in appearance anywhere between a greenish grey and light tan. It seems to fade towards the tan end.

Light Aircraft grey - XF-19 Sky Grey (?), perhaps with a touch of blue.

Many Thanks for all your feedback. I’ve already got Buff in my cupboard I’ll use that.

Odd looking plane I always thought, my grandad was an engineer on the Nimrod and I don’t know what it was they did but I remember him saying that his facility or whatever it’s called for overhauling the aircraft held a record for overhauling the nimrod, I have no idea what they were doing to it but they were the best at it. I was wondering, is it the Airfix 1/72 scale kit? If so how is it?

what’s the name of your hobby colour app? Something like that would make my day.

Model paint 42 it’s great
