BAe-146?

i really like the look of the bae-146 and i was wondering if anyone made one. i know revell makes a 1/144 military version, does anyone else?

i will be taking my first flight in one of these in a few weeks[:D]

Revell also did the TNT air frieght version in 1/144 kit number 04042.

Hope it helps

Rob.

That’s a great plane! I’ve actually flown an updated version (the Avro RJ-85) for about 1000 hours at my last employer. Better engines and avionics than the old -146’s.

As far as “regional-jet” models, they’re a rare breed. I don’t know of anyone who makes them in kit form. Of course, you can find Wooster or Schabak (sp?) types (snap on wings, tail, and stand…all pre-painted rather poorly). I’ve been through the kitmaker catalogs for the past three years, and nothing. The Canadair Regional Jet (my current steed) is rapidly advancing up the list of “total aircraft type in service” and is now third (I think) behind the 737 and one other. Yet, I can’t find a kit of it from anyone.

Sad, really.

Whats sad is the fact that General Aviation (GA) is almost totally ignored. There are a lot of Cessna 150, 152, 172 and 182 but no kits of them. If you’re lucky you’ll occasionally find one of the Minicraft GA subjects, but not very often. Does the kit manufacturers even realize that they’re missing a large chunk of aviation history? How many new Messerschmidt or Mustang kits do we need? There are a lot of airliners missing too. How about a decent Convair 880 or Lockheed L-1011? or how about a convair 340 or Martin 4-4-0?[soapbox][|(] Sorry, I didn’t mean to vent, but it just chaps my hide to no end that the kit manufacturers think every one wants a new P-51.

Yeah I like that bird very beautyful. Now I know i have seen a kit of it somewhere…where was it…Arhhh I have to do some searching

Roadkill,

I agree wholeheartedly. I’d love to have a C172 kit so that I could paint it in the same colors and N-number as the one I first solo’d in.

I’m sorry about venting in this topic, but there is injustice in the fact that there aren’t any really good civil aircraft kits available, but theres a ton of Spitfires, Mustangs, 109s’, corsairs and the like. I’d love to be able to do airliners in 1/144 but that is just to small for me and I try to keep everything in the same scale. Whatever happened to the B727 that was promised several years ago that was supposed to be in 1/72? I know theres a 707 out there in 1/72 but the one I saw was waaaaaay out of my price range. Sorry there I go ranting again.

i would like one in 1/72, 1/144 seems a bit small, but looks like it will have to dew. if only they made on in 1/48…(evil laugh) does anyone know what the military version carries?

welsh models did a 146 100 in 1/144th if you like vac kits. i’ll have a look and see what i can find.
Captainbrasilia. there was a 1/72 kit of the cesspit 172 (can you tell i’ve worked on them LOL). i’ve got whats left of one in the model den someplace. not sure who kited it but i’ll have a look and let you know. what i do remember is that they did it as both wheel and float versions.
Greg

That would probably be the Minicrap kit. I still have nightmares of that one.

if they also did a beech bonanza their the ones. i found it basic and just about buildable but with alot of work. i thought maybe it was arii or something like that but i built it years ago and my memory sucks. wouldn’t mind doing another of the 172 and bonanza too cos i’ve got a sort of civvie a/c thing going on at the moment.
Greg

I’ve got one of my Minicrap Cherokees coming up in my to do pile. It’s 1/48 and has no paint listings, its got the little letter to denote the color but no paint chart to match it to. It’s buildable but you would need to replace the Regs with AM decals if you want to do a different plane.

did minicraft do these in 1/72?. i’m planning a civvie dio and so far i have some chipmunks, some gypsy mothsa piper aztec an airfix cherokee arrow and some gliders and hopefully a cessna skymonster on the way too along with a couple of vehicles and a glider trailer that i scratchbuilt. also i am thinking of getting another airfix cherokee and building a new fuse to make it into a crop sprayer or maybe convert one of the chippies

Roadkill,

If you are after the Minicraft Cessnas, go to www.hannants.co.uk They currently list both the 150 and the 172

I found on the net (http://www.greatmodels.com) 4 kits from Revell 1/144th
rmg4035 Bae 146-100 STA Transporter (The military version)
rmg4042 Bae 146-100 ‘TNT’ Australia Air Express Cargo
rmg4233 Bae 146-200 4-Jet Airliner Eurowings/ Air UK
rmg442 Bae 146-100 TNT Passenger Aircraft
(They ship in Canada)

If you are after 1/144 decals for the 146, Hannants list 17 different after market sheets, ranging from Air Malta to Air UK to Manx (for whom my father flew 146’s) , Loganair, Aer Lingus, Dan Air, Air Wisconsin, Sabena, British European, Titan Airways, Continental, etc. Hope that helps

hey everyone! back from vacation, was on a bae-146. the plane was deladed getting to the departing airport, it arrived 20 mins. after it was suppose to board. but some how we arrived on time! did ALOT of turns. thanks laquille for the help, never new you could get that many.

I think the market for the GA aircraft is there, and it is large. I don’t think I know a single pilot – civilian or military – who doesn’t own, or if not, doesn’t want to own a miniature of the plane he or she first soloed in. I tried to do mine with a Minicraft Cherokee and it was totally unsatisfying. I can’t remember how many of these commissions and presentation kits for those fortunate enough to have been trained in military aricraft. So who do we have to lean on to get these things considered?
PS: On the subject of tiny airplanes, does anyone recall those totally nifty Pitts Special kits made in 1/72 by LS, a company that also made, I think, the BeeDee Microjets in 1/72. The Pitts models were so tiny you had to display them under cover to protect them, but the final effect was just great. I wish I had one of the two Pitts versions LS put out. I guess LS went the way of Hawk and Aurora, though in the 90s.

I think one of the main reasons we don’t see to many GA kits coming out is because manufacturers haven’t gotten the word that they are wanted. I’m just trying to remember but do you ever recall seeing a GA bird on FSM’s most wanted kits listing? FSM asks every year but no one seems to mention them. I’m just thankful that Minicraft keeps coming out with new airliners (and if you’re reading Mr. Minicraft, how about a 767 with the new Delta “retro” markings. I can get you good pics). A nice new CRJ-50 or -70 would be really nice.
