Badger TC910 compressor review

I have added a review of the Badger TC910 Aspire Pro compressor to my site. Comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Don

Don;

I have tile floor and I set the compressor on a plastic chair mat that you would have at your office. when the compressor runs, I don’t even notice the noise.

For the rattle (which is horribly annoying), I took a twist tie and looped it through the small ring on top of the relief valve and then through the vent slats in the metal cover. Keeps it from flopping and rattling and doesn’t impede the function at all. If you use the twist tie that came on the cord, you don’t even have to hunt one up:)

Thanks for the comments, John.

If I set the compressor on the floor, it’s really not bad at all. I should make that clearer. And, I’ll bet the mat helps. It’s when it is on the bench right next to your ear that it cold be a bother.

The twist tie is a good idea.

Don

Don,

Very nice review!! FWIW, I’ve had my TC910 for about 4 months now and use it almost every day. I do have mine sitting on my bench about 3 ft from where I AB (I like to be able to see the pressure gauge; I don’t need a hearing aid but I do wear tri-focals) and don’t find the ‘noise’ objectionable . I measured the dB (with an iPhone ap [snWow] how accurate is that!!) and got 60 dB immediately after I turned it on and 75 dB just as it shut itself off. Would be curious how much quieter the Iwata is. I like the TC910 very much but I did find the clanking of the little ring on the pressure relief valve annoying. I got some plastic electrical tape, punched a 1/8" hole in it and centered it over the pin of the PRV and ran the tape down the side- no more clanking. Thanks for the nice review!!!

75db at 3 feet is what the other reviewer I mention measured too. I wish I could give you a reading on the SmartJet, but I don’t have a sound level meter or even an iPhone. But, it is noticeably quieter.

Loudness is pretty subjective, and I know from experience that you can get used to different sounds and tune them out. I have tinnitus and certain frequencies make it worse, so I am probably a poor judge. But, if it bothers me, I feel obligated to mention it. If I wrote that it is a really quiet compressor, I’d be lying.

Like I say at the end of my review, I think the TC910 is a great source for an airbrush.

Another fix for the rattling relief valve. It shows there are more ways than one to skin a cat.[:)]

Thanks for your comments.
