Badger 150 1/72 kits

Will I be able to spray the Luftwaffe camo with the Badger 150 on 1/72 scale kits using the fine head assembly. I’m using mm acrylic, how much should it be thinned and at what pressure

JCB, from what I have read before, and my own limited experience this should not be a problem.

I’ve been experimenting with Gunze acrylic thinned 70:30, thinner to paint, sprayed at around 10psi through the standard head on my Omni4000. This produces, with a little practice, a very acceptable mottle in 1/72.

Based upon the above you should have no problems with a 150 running a fine head set up.

JCB,

Years ago I was able to airbrush an intricate multi-color camo scheme on a couple of 1/72nd scale jets using a Badger 150 with the medium head assembly. Gunze thinned 50:50 will spray excellent. The same ratio for enamels thinned with turpentine or mineral spirits. I recomment an air presure of approx. 10 psi. I currently use an Iwata HP-C and the enamel ratio above with awesome results. The Badger should do the trick just as well. Experiment with both the medium and fine head assembly; you may find that the medium head will spray the acrylics a bit smoother with less clogs. I also recommend strainning your paint with discarded panty hose or plumbers mesh. The later can be found in the plumbing section at your local home store. Good luck to ya!

Thanks guys. Is Gunze the best paint? Is there a big difference over MM.

JCB, I’ve used Gunze for the last few months, are using predominantly Lifecolour, and these paints spray beautifully. They are every bit as good as Tamiya’s acrylics.

Just thin them about 60/40, paint to thinner, and that should be fine for most paintwork.
Obviously as plasticmod, says you’ll want to go a little thinner on paint if mottling.

I use Tamiya’s acrylic thinner, and this works fine with Gunze.
