WooHoo!!! SWBO says that I can get a new airbrush for my birthday. I have decided on the Badger 100LG, but what size needle should I get? I build 1/48th aircraft and 1/35 armour and I use enamels and lacquers.
Does the 100 series and the 155 share parts? According to Don Wheeler:
Badger makes a model 3155 airbrush which is a 155 with a finer needle.
The parts that are different are:
Needle P/N 51-081DT
Tip P/N 41-003
Regulator P/N 41-033
The tip and regulator also fit the model 175 brush.
I was able to get all three parts for about $15.
I don’t get your question. I never say that the 100 and 155 share parts. If you look at this page I show a cut-away of the 100 and a parts breakdown of the 155 and the head assemblies are very different. A 3155 needle would never work in a 100. For one thing, it has a knob on the back end.
The 3155 was designed by Jay Livery for T-shirt airbrushing and automotive work and Badger liked the idea and put it into production. I have one as well and like it although I have not used it a lot.
Jay Livery is a very talented airbrush artist and a good friend of Ken Schlotfeldt. I have spoken with him several times as well.
The 3155 is basically a Badger 155 Anthem with a fine tip, needle, regulator, of the Anthem 155, and the trigger, needle tube/ rocker assenbly of an Omni 3000. Thats how you get a Hybrid 3155.
