The real B-1B is 146’ long and has a wingspan of 79’ swept back.
Converting that to 1/48 scale would give you a model 36.5" long, with a wingspan of 19.5".
In 1/72 scale that would translate to 24.3" long and a wingspan of 13.2"
I was just on 3 different sites looking for a 1/72 scale B-1B & couldn’t finf one. Does anyone know if there’s a B-1 kit out there in this scale? If I’m not mistaken, the 1/48 kit
costs somewhere around 75 bucks, which is a deterrent in itself (to me, at least) to buying it, let alone the size. I built a 1/72 B-52 last year & it was absolutely overwhelming. It hung up on my ceiling like a huge black condor & dwarfed every other model I had–just too damned big, although I loved the way it looked. I just bought a 1/144 scale '52 & now I think that’s too small. In my opinion 1/100th would be the perfect size for this bird if someone would care to manufacture it in this funky scale.
done it got the pictures , its over 1 meter in 1/48 long you can have the wings swept back or extanded , the only pitfulls the under carraige , wouldn’t go on , the fuselage dosn’t fit properly , but saying that its a freat aircraft , two bobs do a good set of decals sean,
Hi All,
FSM had an article awhile back on updating the monogram kit that was
excellant! The monogram kit (1/72nd) is the only kit worth building ot bone.
Good Hunting,

the big one is great kit excpt All your work is on the landing gear and bomb bays
The gear is not strong enough to support the aircraft.I used brass tubing and rod to strenthan the gear and axils. The cock pit is ok but you need to cut open the pilots area
along the hatches above them .That gave you something to look at on top.I glued them open. I also placed the finished model on a sheet of mirrior so you can see all your hard work on the underside. If thats to big Airfix has a 1/72 B1-B,thats very nice, with a little work.It should not be that hard to find.Try Squdron Models.

For the size, the 1/48 isn’t as detailed as it could be. The kits biggest shortfall, as I remember (I built it at least 15 years ago) is the pins in the wing fold mechanism. They’re awfully small, and the pins that are meant to hold the wing in position are tiny. They snapped off almost immediately. Plus I don’t think there was an interlocking mechanism between the wings - they just flopped around independantly. Not good for a kit of its size.
The Monogram 1/72 is a nicer kit. When I bought it it had about a million cruise missiles to hang on it. The Revell kit only has SRAMs for the bomb bay, and they’re not very well molded.
At least that’s how i remember it from 15 years ago :D.
davey5 , youre right about the undercarriage , couldn’t get mine to glue on to the fuselage , ended up losing them , the kit it self was a terrible fit ,and a bit flimsey , hope fully someone like tamiya might do one , we live in hope
i know mate , but there again i did manage to do it , minus the the under carraige its a shame no one does metal ones that can be screwed in , still its a big kit and worth it in the end
