Alright guys, I have no clue if it’s been asked or discussed yet, I’ve had no luck finding it if it has.
I have a 1/72 B-52 and a KC-135 kit.
I want to model these for the SAC days, but I need help determining the paint colors. I’ve got pictures of both for that era, but I’m not that great at determining the correct colors from pictures. Seeing as how these kits are in short supply these days, I don’t want to mess them up.
It’s kinda hard to say, do you know which timeframe you’re wanting, and is the B-52 a late model (G or H), or one of the “D” models? There’s quite a few options for that pairing.
Post the pictures of the schemes you want to do and it will be easier for someone to tell you the colors. Saying “the SAC days” doesn’t help much. These aircraft wore a number of different schemes and it depends on your definition of “SAC days”.
If it’s a “D” bird, without seeing any pics, I’d say the underside would be semi-gloss black, the upper colors a dark green FS 34079, medium green FS 34102, and tan FS 30219.
Surprised no one has asked this question, but what exact kits do you have, and what decals, if any, do you have for the builds? I’ve never seen a photo of the G in bare metal.
The B-52D is a Monogram 5709 and the KC-135 is an A, it is a Ertl/AMT 8848. I acquired both on eBay-which seems to have exploded with both since my initial acquisitions. As far as decals go, I only have what’s in the kits-which have yellowed from age- but printing new ones is not an issue.
