B-29 "X-1 mothership" references?

Fate smiled on me this week and I ended up with a second Monogram B-29 kit for a ridiculously cheap price. Since I also have an Eduard 1/48 X-1 kit in the stash, the first thing that came to mind is building the B-29 mothership and attaching “Glamorous Glennis” in the bomb bay perhaps using magnets so that I can separate them from each other.

Anyway, I need to look over some references, maybe add book or two to my libary and see what kind of scratch building this will involve. The problem is, I’m seeing lots of good info on Yeager’s X-1, not so much on the B-29 that carried it.

Can anyone here recommend any good books, videos (or websites) that have detailed pictures or drawings of the B-29 mothership and especially the bomb bay?

Here are just a couple I found through Google

This is exactly what I googled - “b-29 mothership x-1”

Thanks for the links Benjamin. I’ve scoured that NASA Dryden site for info, but hadn’t seen that B-29s over Korea site yet.

Eagles Talon made a conversion kit for this ,good luck tryna find it…

Heres a longshot...theres a guy that built an RC B-29 and X-1…the video is on Youtube and is way cool! Maybe you could track this guy down and request some info from him? Like I said, a longshot but he would be the guy to ask…lol It seems that every pic of the Mothership is either too far away or has the X-1 parked in front of the bomb bay [:@]

Im looking to build this also so if I come across any good pics of "Mom" Ill let ya know.

An update (mainly in case someone comes across this in a quest for info).

Today I came across a goldmine of detailed pictures of this aircraft at the following link. A search of the Yahoo “Space Modelers” email group turned up this resource as well as other interesting tidbits.
