It’ll NEVER happen m8, and if it did, WHO could afford one?. Not me that’s for sure, the average price of a 1/48 scale Tamiya model is what, around $45.00, so a 1/48th Tamiya B-17 would prolly be somewhere in the neiborhood of $200.00USD,s. NO THANKS.
Mandrake,
LOL…a 1/48 B-17 by Tamiya…I’d love to see THAT!!!
Regrettably, I can’t see it happening, but if you have inside info, tell me more.
I’d love to see one…I’m sure that I’d have to discuss the issue with my bank manager to organise a personal loan to enable me to afford one…but wouldn’t it be something to behold!!!
Swanny’s right, I remember a couple of years ago seeing a post by some guy who swore that his buddy from the LHS had seen the box art for the kit and that it’s release was imminent.
Well for one thing I have more important things to think about, there called BILLS,FOOD, KIDS, A DOG, A CAR PAYMENT, A HOUSE PAYMENT. Maybe YOU can afford to spend alot of $$$ on models but but most ppl can’t.
This has to be categorized as one of plastic modeling’s urban legends…right up there with ICM’s HMS Hood.
If any one model company is in a postition to release a 1/48 bomber, chances are it would be Trumpeter. They seem to be quite fond of large-scale models, which is all right with me, since I prefer them too…
Personally, I’d love to see a 1/32 B-25 or B-26, but I’d really love to see a 1/48 PB4Y-2 Privateer that’s not an expensive resin conversion.
You are most likely correct. But it adds so much more effect to say it would “probably” be over 200.00. Then people can whine about how expensive models are.
We may not all be in the market for $200 kits but consider that the Cutting Edge $239 PB4Y-2 is selling with no problem for Dave Klaus and you still need a Monogram B-24 kit to put with it. Also that Alpha FLight consistantly sells out of their $189 kits every year. Another case in point … HML kits - you don’t see them going out of business for lack of sales, in fact they just keep cranking them out! Most of us may gasp at a $200 price tag (myself included) but there are plenty of modelers out there with budgets that can support this level of kit production.
Amen…anything would be better than the 1/48 Squadron brand B-26 I’m building. Oh, Revell threw in a few pieces of plastic, but the majority of the airframe is White Putty…
With the plethora of new releases, I am at a loss as to why no well engineered B-26 (Marauder) is available in any scale. At least it looks like we’re going to get a nice 1/72 Invader from Italeri.
