I’ve been a subscriber to Finescale Modeler for many years but I’m new to the forum and could use some advice. I’m looking to buy a new airbrush and I’ve narrowed it down to the Aztec A4709 kit or the Iwata Eclipse HP-C5. Is there anyone out there that has used both and can give me a comparison? Any advice I can get would be greatly appreciated.
If I were you, I’d actually post on the painting/airbrushing subforum.
I have had the aztec and liked it well enough, but I think the consensus on this site would be to go with the Iwata over the Aztec.
Don’t forget to look at Badger stuff too. Inexpensive and good quality.
Thanks for the advice. Since posting I’ve been reading other posts and you’re right, the consensus seems to be that the Iwata is the better brush. That’s the one I’ll be ordering today. Thanks again.
I’d go for Iwata for two reasons… better quality and it is easier to buy Iwata part replacements at local Hobby Lobby ten minutes drive from home in case it breaks.
Never owned an Iwata. There’s no comparison though. A really good in-between is the Badger Patriot 105, and that’s not a compromise.
Ditto, and I get the Iwata AB and the parts and accessories for 40% off… Too bad you had to “order” one, Gary… Means you gotta “order” parts and accessories too… Won’t matter for a few months though… Might be a good idea to plan ahead… You WILL break something on it, and it’ll be the ONE part you can’t get for six weeks…
Dont worry about Iwata parts to much… I have been using the same one for 8yrs and just had to replace a needle once. Just keep it clean and oil-er up every once in a while and you will been fine.

it’s all personal preference when it comes to brushes imo. both are great brushes. i would only recommend the iwata because i have used one.
