Here are some pics of the Mack NO 7.5-ton prime mover, an all-resin kit by Azimut. So far, the build is complicated but enjoyable. The Pz 38(t) turret is from an in-progress kit which I’ve included for scale to show how huge this truck was. It’s going to tow my 8" howitzer for the Towed Gun group build.

You know, the fit so far is not bad at all. The pieces that are warped, and some of course are, have so far been thin, so I can just bend them as I glue them into place. That’s the way the racks were for the gas tanks (the square boxes on either side of the frame, of course) – they were warped, but in assembling them (ten pieces for four frames!) the glue just pulled them into place. Then the tanks themselves did the rest of the job…
The bed of the truck is a bit warped though. That I won’t be able to fix by gluing into place. That’s going to take heat and reshaping. I’ll probably inundate it in hot water and then reshape.
Azimut so far gets a thumbs up from me, for handing a complex subject well. It was a ton of dough, but a good investment as the subject is impressive, interesting and unfairly neglected – this was an important vehicle.
This is a whole league away from a resin tank, though, as a tank has relative smooth and clean features, with so many of the guts hidden under armour plating. It’s a major investment in time, but if you are patient, no special skills are needed. Fortunately, as I ain’t got em! If any readers don’t have experience building resin kits, I strongly suggest starting with a tank, like the beautiful Panzer I by Accurate Armour, or a Formations kit.

Run, don’t walk to a nearby store & buy a single sheet of large construction paper board (that every kid uses for their science project, etc), preferably in a light blue color. Use it for background/base for your photos & your rug color won’t “eat the model” …
