I have the sketches he made that day of the Tigercat, an Avenger and a Catalina.
Yes Dave, you’re right. As you can tell, I’m an embarassingly sloooow builder!
Thats pretty cool to still have those Mojo and to build something based off them would be pretty cool.
So does every one have an idea of what they are going to build yet? I’ve pretty much got everything that I need to build the 1946 pumper truck. Now al I will have to is figure out how to get it all together and look like one.
Last week I got in the mail the Tamiya 1/35 British Ambulance Rover7…the one that I posted a pic of earlier in this thread that has since disappeared. I was very suprised to find a lack of ambulance or firefighting vehicle subjects. I chose this piece for a couple of reasons…one is that I have never built any armor…and though it is not actual “armor” in the tank sense, it is heavily plated…I thought it would be a good piece to break my teeth on, and an interesting subject of course. I believe it comes with 4 figures, stretcher, and such…I say that as I am not opening it until June 30th!!! LOL I thought it might be a bit of suspense that way…also I plan on building Box Stock…but will add the details I feel necessary, or I find missing when I open the kit. Can’t wait to see what everyone else is doing!!!
SOunds like a cool build. You are definatly not the first to be suprised by the lack of emergency vehicle kits, I was pretty upset when I found out how scarce they are.
Im certainly interested, although it would be my first non-WW2 Armour build. I am planning to built each of the 5 trucks from my local Fire brigade at some point, but im a tad busy right now - ill see how i go. Speaking of which, does anybody know, as i have looked nearly everywhere local, if kits exist for:
Ford Trader 2WD
Isuzu D950
Toyota Dyna 4x2
If anybody needs any pictues of stowage examples etc for fire trucks, just give me a yell and ill see what i can do [:)]
Welcome to the forum burntoast. Would love to have you in on the fun. I primarly build armor myself so it is going to be a learning experience for me to. As far as the truck kits , I have no idea. Firemodelman might have an idea though, he is the resident expert on all things firetruck and plastic. So are you a firefighter? Could be cool to see what kind of equipment is used on that side of the world and if it to much different from ours.
Hey guys, I thought I was ready for this build, but after reading some of the plans you all have, I’m undecided again. I was going to do a Police Car (converted to my cities dept )and or a Fire Truck, but I like the idea of a Mash copter instead. And once I thought of military emergency vehicles, I kicked around the idea of an MC-130E witht the Fulton STAR Recovery system. The one that used a balloon to lift a rope into the air so a modified C-130 could latch onto it and pick a man up off the ground for extraction. But I’ll probably go with the PD car and FD truck for now. Can’t wait to get started. Maybe the quick speed fairy will bless me and I’ll do them all.[:D]

Perfect timing for me, I am going to build the Revel Monogram Paddy Wagon kit. I should have it finished by then, I will post pics when done.
Welcome to the forum and the build Brzys. Be glad to have you in on it.
Don- all those sound cool. I know what you mean about ready to start. We were out back at the station yesterday and fired up the ole 46 that I am building. Made me want to come home and start on it right away. Couple of more weeks and away we go though.
i have not had any luck chris finding a donor for the 46, but what i got in the mail the other day may just work… i ordered a seagrave sedan cab pumper from UPTOWN AUTOMOTIVE, came with a full frame, 6 wheels and tires, the seats and some clear for the windows…i’ll snap a few pics in a while and post up a link to show you guys.
ok, pics are loaded, they are in my FIREMODELMAN/ boyds hauler fotki album, so i guess this is going to be my build.[;)]
That looks like a cool build to Dave. I jsut checked for that kit that I have for the build and could not find any either. Guess I got lucky, there were 4 or 5 on Ebay when I got mine.
I had fun in the one over at SA, I’ll give it another shot. Still gives me two weeks to wrap up all my other projects [:)] .
Not sure what to build though, I’ve been thinking of doing some airtankers, but I already have kits and plans for several other projects.
I even measured up the E-One Cyclone at work with the idea of scratch building it, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet.
I just started a hot rod 1970’s ambulance, wish I had seen this earlier, I could have saved it for this build.
Anyway I’ve got a lot of ideas, just need to settle down on one.
BTW lizardqing2 I’ve got several pictures of a 1948 Ford pumper similar to the one you showed (except for the cab of course) if you still need some. Did you actually find a 46 Ford kit, I’ve never seen one, I’ve got a 40 and a 48 but I think the 46 is different.
hi aaron, welcome ‘over here’, glad your going to jump in this one too. for everyone else, (not to not include you aaron, but i figure you seen this over at SA ) i put a few pics up of a couple die-cast’s i have of the seagrave pumper and sedan body. the sedan body is going to be my guide for the resin kit. the pics are in my firemodelman / boyd’s hauler fotki link…
Welcome to FSM Aaron. Glad to have you in on the build. I never found a 46 kit either. Got the Revell 40 kit. Biggest differences I saw between the kit and the real one is the head lights. The kit has them in the fender and the real one has them seperate. If I could find an old 32 Ford model I have somewhere around here I could probaly steal the lights off it and fill in the fenders. Other than that there are some louvers on the hood that will need to be sanded off. Can’t say no to the pics, might be something to give me an idea. Even thogu I am replicating a 1:1 we have, there are things that have been removed over the years.
Well I’ve got a growing mountain of unbuilt kits and plans for each but I think I’m going to do something I need to go get another kit for. Ran across a photo of a 57 community services truck (budget ladder truck) and I’ve been thinking about doing a ladder truck so I think I’m off to get a 55 or 57 Chevy pickup. Not going to try to exactly duplicate this but here is the photo that has inspired my build (if I can wait until the 30th).

Thats pretty cool. I’m suprised that as cheap as our county is thats not what we have for a ladder truck. I hear you on witing to start, I’ve been fired up and ready to go but really need to finish the build I have going on now first.
