Would anyone be interested in a group build consisting of emergency vehicles? This could be anything that has flashing lights. Fire trucks ,police cars, wreckers and anything I might not be thinking of. Could be lots of oppurtunity to hone some scratchbuilding tecniques.
Hows this sound:
- Start date of June 30 and ending Oct 31.
- Any emergency vehicle land,sea or air ( incl.:firetrucks,police cars,planes,helos,tow trucks,etc.)
- Any scale
- OOB or any extent of scratchbuilding or AM parts.
So far interested for sure:

Hey lizard.
great topic. just not good timing for me personally. Ever since I checked out firemanmoderler 's site. It set something off in me, Plus I live right around the corner from the cedar park fire station, and they have all kinds of interesting vehicles coming through there. So a similiar build like this in the future. just not this time around. Good luck.
Oh what did you have in mind for your build. Anythig in particular?
[:)][:D][8D]
Sorry Chris, I’m afraid it’s bad timing for me too!!! I’m already involved in two group builds, and a few hundred personal builds!!! At least it seems like a few hundred. It would be interesting if you included Search and Rescue birds, CDF birds, Police helo’s, Police armor…if you think about it, you could stretch this groupbuild through all genres, even get the Sci-Fi guys involved (they can do a futuristic emergency vehicle). Anything after June would be better for me, but if you guys give it a go, I’ll definately cheer ya on!!!
Well I was thinking with all the other builds going on that it could start once some of them dwindled down a bit. I could agree about flying stuff or armored stuff. One of the most impressive things I have seen as a firefighter was a C-130 right over my head making a retardent drop on a fire. I think this could be cool build so y’all just say what a good time frame could be to get it going.
Here’s a photo of a P2V Neptune that I installed a full avionics package into for Minden Air in Nevada. The plane was converted into a Firebomber, and that was part of the package, was getting it ready for that service. My bosses brother actually owns this Neptune, and leases it to Minden Air. Also, I work at Ramona Airport, the Main CDF Air Attack Base in Southern California, so I am truly humbled by what these guys do. I would say start around June 1st, but put the word out now to everyone, get them interested, and get them working out their budgets to get what they want. And maybe make the deadline Oct. 31st. I think that would give everyone plenty of time to get to scratchbuilding!!!

Cool plane. We onlt got to see one make a drop due to amount of smoke but did get alot of time with helos dropping water.
June 1st sounds great to me. Still need to get a few things together for a scratch built project I am wanting to do. I’ll make a post in the chopper and a/c forum and see if there is any interest.
you know i’m in chris. the one i started over at SA, turned out with quit a few builders. i’ll be waiting to see the start date.[tup][tup]
And your talents would be well welcome Dave.
thank you, i was thinking about trying to do the '46 for this one, how bout you??
That was what I had in mind to Dave. Good one to learn some scratch building tecniques on with some coaching of coarse.
Anyone wondering what we are talking about, this is the actual truck - http://lizardsworkshop.50megs.com/46.html
[:D][:D] great minds think alike.
June 30 sounds like a good start date for me. I have several kits that I’ve been planning on building. I’d like to join in.
Don [alien]
Sounds great Don,glad to have you in.
Would a out-of the box firefighter plane be OK, I just don’t have the time to get around everywhere to find the stuff I need for scratchbuilding.
Anyway, I will be following this build, whither I’m in it or not.
Regards, Dany
That would be be great. No worries about OOB either, With this subject I would be happy to have alot of OOB builds. Just happens that there are not to many that can be. Welcome to the build. What type of plane is it by the way?
Thanks, for the welcome.
I’m thinking of building the 1/72 Heller Canadair CL415, that would be the second time I make this kit. The previous one was destroyed a few days after finishing (2 yo son thought it would be an interesting toy…[:(]).
If I may ask a stupid question…what is OOB ???
Dany
Sounds like a cool build. My 2 yo boy has also thought someof my stuff was a cool toy, so I feel your pain.
OOB means out of box. Something built primarly with what comes with the kit.
My thing is mainly figures, but I also have a soft spot for LE vehicle models. I’m still new around here so I must ask, what exactly does a group build entail?
Basically it is a groub of builders that decide upon a subject and then set a time frame and what not to do the builds. It can be all the same kit or just same topic. It’s a way to learn new things and help each outher out with diferent parts of the build. The ones I have done so far have been pretty fun and keeps you motivated to get the build done. Be glad to have you join in, the more the merrier.
