[tup] Wayne I’m glad you decided to stay in the hobby and remain with us on the forum.
Sean’s right motivation to go on can be an absolute killer sometimes when you are trying to balance work, family & hobby commitments.

I’ve just finished a three year posting in Canberra and loved every minute of it.If you need any advice on things to see and do,drop me a line (lots of things to distract kids while you go to the AWM!!) the Treloar annex in Mitchell is the AWM storage/maintenance area.I was lucky enough to do some restoration work on the Beaufort and George (I’m a Navy Aircraft Tech by trade) which was awesome.
For those asking about model shops in Canberra definately check out Toyworld and Fisher discounts.Fisher often has up to 50% sales and if they don’t have it they can get it at very reasonable prices. The ACTSMS guys are a fantastic bunch, very helpful and nice to boot!Members also get discounts at Toyworld,Fisher and Monaro hobbies in Queanbeyan.
Cheers

Tweety & Darren, [#ditto] on the motivation thing fellas…
South [#welcome] back mate[tup]
Mike, Sean, Dave & Jules thanks for your words of encouragement, think I was going through a mid life crisis, not to worry its over now.
Luke good to see you back, as for Canberra I fully agree with the comments made by pingtang and death about the boys at the ACTSMS I really enjoyed my time with them when I was serving in the Canberra area (still an associate member of the group). A word about Fishers Discount if you haven’t found them yet, They can be hard to locate as the store is a hardware store that has a modelling department in upstair area, it is mainly model railway stuff but they were also catering for scale modelling also.
P.S. Don’t know what its like elsewhere in Aussie, but here in Adelaide at present I am wondering if I can develop web feet in a hurry, [%-)]Bush fires at the start of the month and now rain, rain and more rain, [?]maybee I should have decided on boat building instead of returning to modelling.
Hey guys! You were all pretty happy with the Abrams I posted! Check it out, with ‘little bro’ M113!

I have posted this link to the Groub build topic but will put it here as well. This link is to my photobucket account of a Wirraway and P-40 located at Wangarrata in Victoria.
No wonder I couldn’t find the bleedin shop. It was a hardware shop, and it was up stairs - fancy that - lol. I’m gona have to go bak and take another look.
Luke It took me a couple of trips to find it, if its any help there a fuel depot across the road from it.
Luke I probably should have told you that… If it helps, the front of the shop is yellow. I went there a few weeks ago, and there’s not heaps there. But they do have alot of paints and supplies. A few kits too.
Dave Thanks for those pics of the P-40. They’ll be very handy for the P-40N I’m building.
Dave, do you know what variant the P-40 is?
Carl, I can do better than that. It is a P-40N-5 US serial number 42105915 accepted 23 AUG 1942 at the Curtiss-Wright factory in Buffalo NY.
One of my former Air Force cadets works at the place so he gave me some info on it. I also have a huge number of photos of some P-39’s that they are rebuilding at the same facility. I need to get back there to take some more up to date ones.
For those who are into wingy things, this months “ModelArt Australia” has an article on RAAF Foliage green and Colour Schemes for WW2 aircraft.
Thanks Dave. I’m trying to figure out what the difference was between the export models vs the US ones, eg I think the RAAF E’s were E-3’s, which was an export only sub-variant - I’ve no idea how this applies to N’s. Maybe we just had Brit seat-belts & Imperial Gallons??
BTW: you do good walk-around Dave.
There is also a P-40 currently under restoration at the “Old Aeroplane Company” at Tyabb airfield down here on the Mornington Peninsula. I should try and get down there to get some pics, but it won’t be this weekend.
