I’ve done a little reading on photoetch, and a soldering iron has been mentioned as a needed tool. Since I don’t want to spend money on a soldering iron–or time practicing soldering technique–unless I absolutely must, is there another means of attaching small photoetch pieces to each other?
A slower setting CA (Krazy) glue will work for you Dan A. Try to not use excess CA glue as it is hard to remove after it has set. Also it drys brittle so avoid handling more than needed.

Look too at some of the craft store glues. Aleene’s Tacky Glue is a white PVA glue which grabs and holds quickly yet allows time to refine and reposition the part as necessary. It is also water soluable and allows easly cleanup of the inevitable mistakes. zI use it requlalrly in the installation of ship railings and the construction of PE radar screens. Hint – don’t go for the jumbo economy sized bottle. It does have a shelf life once opened.
A similar product to Gator Glue for models is “The Ultimate Glue” by Crafters Pick. Also a craft store item. Its like the Tacky Glue above with respect to the grab & hold and water cleanup. It claims (like Gator glue) to be as strong as superglue, but I have not been able to reproduce that feature with either Gator or Ultimate.
Don’t tie your model purchases to items with model manufacturer’s names and logos. You’ll find that most model products have a corresponding non-specific use analog which will save you money.
