AT-6 Texan 1/48 Looking for model suggestion

Coming back to the hobby, I am looking for an AT-6 model 1/48. Anything to suggest for me? I would like also to have photoetch parts for this model, if it exists. Please direct me where and how I could buy these things (throug web). Thanks.

Howdy Logic,

[#welcome] back to the hobby…!! Not sure of the exact kit numbers, but you have the Monogram, Italeri & Occidentials T-6’s…

These good kits are really well done and if I am not mistaken, the Italeri & Occidential molds look very simuliar to Monograms.

For photoetch stuff, check with the Eduard line… I have not looked at my aftermarket stuff lately but I believe they do a cockpit & external(flaps) update sets…

Check with www.squadron.com

Good hunting

The Italeri kit is very good, I got one a while ago before ever hearing about the re-release of monogram old kit. It cost me $21 or so, the revell release of the old monogram kit is priced at $13.95 on the revell website, I plan to pick up 2 of them to go with the one I have.

The Monogram kit is nice but has raised panel lines. I also did the Italeri kit and loved it, recessed panel lines. I have another Monogram kit waiting to be done now. Here is a sample of both, can’t go wrong with either for modeling fun in my book.

Hiya, and [#welcome]

Gook luck with the Texan!

Can’t speak about the Italeri one but I have built the Monogram one (in it’s SNJ guise) and I really enjoyed the build, It went together with no real problems except the usual seam lines to sort but you would get that with any kit anyway. It’s nicley detailed out of the box tooI habe the Revell version in my stash and am looking forward to starting it.

All the best.

Greg

Big thanks to all for reply to my request!

Congrats to kg4kpg nice builds of two AT-6! Very nice!
I will continue to read your post…

i recently found the 1/48 heller at-6…

busy working on the interior (got nice pics of the wiring looms etc)… which i’m busy adding in, one by one… lol

Hi Robert

The Italeri (re-boxed Occidental) kit is probably your best choice; as others have mentioned, it has recessed panel lines and a very nice decal sheet. You asked about photo-etch for the kit; Eduard make two sets for the kit. ED48248 has lots of additional detail parts, ED48252 is a set of photo-etch flaps, which I used on my model:

IIRC the Italeri kit does provide separate flaps butthe Eduard kit is much finer in detail. I didn’t use the interior set on my model, and surprisingly little of the cockpit interior can be seen through all that canopy framing. The Eduard sets are available from most online suppliers, I bought mine from Hannants in the UK.

Awesome build Mike, love the scheme.

Thanks to The_Migrant!
Very good details in your reply, I will certainly look forward for these advices.
And…very very nice model of yours!!! I hope to get as good as you guys in future…

I have build few models only (WWII plane) and still interested in these Prop gods!
I am trying to hone my building skills and soon I will get into airbrushing (still at paintbrush…).
Again, thanks to all for your good advice.
