i am new to this hobby,i am having a break from the r/c heli scene.i am doing my best at the moment but my results are not always to my liking.can you guys give me a basic run down on the order of things if you are going to make a kit using etched kit, seperate cable and tools etc and metal tracks.i mean is there a basic order you all stick to, has in when to paint then place,or is it just a case of finish it all then paint,or even paint, detail, paint some more.
I usually build sub-assemblies and paint them prior to put it all together…
I always base this on what it is I’m building. If I’m doing a buttoned up tank, I’ll put everything on the kit except the tracks and then do my base coat. Tracks will be done seperately and not added until the very last weathering stage. If it’s an open topped vehicle such as a self propelled gun or a soft skin vehicle, then I too will build and paint in stages.
I get as much of anything that’s the base color on, paint that. Paint the camo, Paint the detail parts, put thhem on, gloss, if necessary, decal, dull coat. wash, chalk, dullcoat.
(There is no one, right way for everyone!)
Good luck, welcome aboard.
