I know that it is going to seem strange, but, in the “current issue” ad up in the right hand corner, would it be possible to withhold the newest cover, labeled current issue, until the link actually connects to the current issue?
right now, you click “current issue” photo, to take the inside peek, and it goes to the contents for the issue that we already have
I know that in the last few issues, I have just given up on getting any “preview” after trying a few times, since we have no way of knowing when that link will actually work. I only know that it goes to “previews” because the months change in the link when I look the next month.
I object to the magazine image that sticks up from the bottom (tool bar) in Windows. Many times I have been doing a reply and that image covers up the bottom line of my reply. If it could be moved over to the left a bit it would not overlap the reply window.
The cover image and link update automatically once I have uploaded the latest TOC onto the website. It can’t point anywhere else except to the latest issue’s TOC. If you click the little yellow “look inside” tab rather than the cover, that takes you to the Issue Preview page. The IP usually goes live before the next TOC is updated. However, for January’s Issue Preview, we’re running a little behind, so the IP isn’t up yet. That should be remedied in the next week. However, the TOC is up and ready for viewing. You can see it here.
As we’ve discussed in the past, there’s nothing that the FSM staff can do about the banner at the bottom of the screen. I’ve taken it to everyone I can take it to, and it’s there to stay.
We are up for a redesign in 2015, which will make the site look and function more like this. This means a responsive design that fits to the size screen you’re utilizing and should be very cool. However, you’ll still see the banner at the bottom. This is a KPC decision beyond any single editor or lowly associate editor’s (me) control.
The best advice I can recommend is to click the X on the lower right of your screen. This makes the bar disappear for that session.
okay, good,so, I wasn’t seeing things when I clicked the yellow triangle, and it sent me here finescale.com/…/Issue%20Previews.aspx , which is also where it sent me just now when I tested it after going to your “real January link” from your post and seeing the real update.
