For someone thats supposedly interested in " sharing " you don’t seem to do very much. Two prime examples: Look in his " Products/Services " section, most of those parts are easily available at cheaper prices, yet he won’t tell you who makes them. I will. Much easier that resorting to pointless legal garbage.
The traverse gear ~is~ from Tamiya’s toy gearbox ( # 72005 ) or can be stripped from the gearbox supplied in the Static Tiger or King Tiger. MSRP of $16.50, seen in stores for under $10 US ( thats about 8 gears ) This data HAS been confirmed by others, as well as by myself.
www.ETOArmor.com possibly, as he caries Schumo-Kits items.
Tom may make his own, but Schumo-Kit stuff is ~the~ Best (ask around)
When I made my ‘grease-guards’ for the Type 1 gearboxes, I posted the template free for all to download. They are easily cut from a 2 litre pop bottle, and attached with the existing bolts.
Wlad is supplying data on alternatives to Willy’s and Bob’s reduction units, but NOT trying to make money off it.
Thats ~sharing~ Tom. When will you ~share~ anything except negative comments and personal insults, Tom?
as stated on the front page of my website, you are not welcome. do not come back.
I have right to price my own products, customer have right to buy or not buy it.
I never sold stuff to cheap people, how can you tell the quality and where they come from without seeing it. such as turret rotation replacement gear.
my head lights are all made by me, not from somewhere else. go to other places if you want cheaper stuff.
every body will kick your ****** for your “sharing theory”. “sharing” is not “get it for free”. you can share a opinion, a thought or and web link. you do not get free parts from other people, which you do best. You “share” info which you copied from one forum and paste to another one. People feel “oweing you” after you “help” with a answer. then you ask them about free parts. especially the biginggers who do not know you very well yet. that was what you did to me a few years back.
YOu will not ever get free stuff from me again even the "the wiring diagrams for the electricals ". that is the property of intelligence. they are not for stupid person.
You are just simply pointless, how can you sue me of “selling high prices” and “not telling who make them”. that is why you never graduate from high school.
Again, just drop this topic. I do not think people like this stuff going on here. I will not reply to your nonsense even you keep going.
I’ll reply to these “accusations” to make a few things clear, then cease & desist for the peace of this group.
Item #2. I ~never~ said you could not price them as you wish. But because the Tiger 1 builders here share, we point out the lowest prices around so we can save $. That is what I was doing.
Item #3: Many have used the Tamiya parts, and as they are cheaper in ~cost~, and the ~identical~ gear as the others inside the traverse but cast in another color, why not use the maker’s same item? Another case of " helping others save money "
Item #4: Again, another case of easily available and cheaper.
Item #5: You’re the one that said:
Please, enlighten us on this apparent conflict of your statements.
As for the personal defamation, the guys here already know me. I have never insisted anyone owed me, nor have I ever begged for ’ free parts '.
Item #6: Most of the ArmorHut guys don’t charge their batteries inside their tanks, because they ~cycle~ them (one charging, one being run) and if a battery blows, it will wreck the tank. Most people won’t take that risk.
Item #7: I said you weren’t worth it. You mentioned suing, not me. Don’t put words in my mouth because you cannot understand what I’m saying/writing.
You began this personal attack. You delete yours, I’ll delete mine. Agreed? I’ve already deleted one to put the first effort in.
You deleted your post not trying to show effort. you are trying to be sneaky and hide the truth.
My post will be out of context after you deleted your post. you want people think I was attacking you first and you are so gentleman that would delete one of you post first.
but people know the truth. In the post you deleted before above quote, you were telling people that I was the first one to complain about the willy’s gear reduction kit. and I ripped one gentleman off by selling bad products.
“[banghead]he made me talking again, next post he will ask why i did not keep my words by answering his nonsense.”[banghead]
He says I’m ~not~ allowed to report on a secondhand " trashed " gearbox which came from him via someone else…
BUT…
He says he ~is~ allowed to report on a secondhand gearbox thats " noisy " that came from Willy via someone else. Before Tom denies this fact, Willy has already he did NOT sell Tom any reductions, hence it HAS to be a ~secondhand~ unit.
Please note that he also ignored to " define " his version of " sharing ".
Of course all this talk of gear reductions is redundant if you have a gearbox that is designed from scratch to give accurate scale speed and loads of torque…
Nice eh? This is the Wecohe gearbox upgrade for the Tiger 1 with “old style” gearboxes (without the black plastic covers). In reality it is more of a gearbox re-build than a simple upgrade. And I also replaced the Tamiya nylon gears that it retains (the 3 largest ones in each gearbox) with metal ones made by HPC Gears because I wanted to, (bought from ETO Armor in the US because it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to buy from Bob than it is to deal direct with HPC in the UK!) Crazy world isn’t it!
I’ve had it a while now but have not been able to post pics due to a lack of imaging hardware (camera). I still don’t have one… I keep buying tank bits instead! So thanks to a friend taking some pics, I can share it with you.
How does it run? Awesome… just don’t get in it’s way… it is truly evil. As is the cost.
What the pics don’t show because it is obscured by the front bracing piece is that the most forward gear meets a smaller one that is on the output shaft.
For those who are unsure whether to get a belly plate from WW or not, I can thoroughly recommend them! The quality of finish has improved since the very first one and they do exactly what they are designed to do. A great addition, don’t hesitate, get in quick before I’m tempted to buy the lot…(only kidding about that WW… err, I think…) The internal one with Daryl Turners’s gearbox plate for the tiger bait sounds cool.
The selling of product on the FSM forums is prohibited, please refer to your user agreement you approved when you signed up. If you have a quarrel with another forum member, take it off board, there’s no place for it here. I have no problem with pointing people to specific site for items they may be looking for, but please be careful about the posting of prices, etc.
I’m currently in the middle of two Tiger projects, converting a Tiger I into a late-war Ausf E, steel wheels, corrected turret, the whole 9 yards, and I’m 3/4 through a Tiger II. Both will be built for static display.
I’m not sure yet, but once they’re done, I can post some images here. The Tiger I will most likely be a PzAbt. 502, and the Tiger II will be PzAbt. 503 number 234, although I may go with a non-zimmerit vehicle at this point, I’m not sure.
Jeff,
that is great.
If FSM does not allow you post picture here[:D] or on the megazine[:D], I will post them on my website.[:p]
looking forward to seeing them.
did you do the 1/16 tiger 1 review and builtup on FSM years back?
thanks,tom
It’s not a matter of allowing me to post, it’s just that if I build the model and then decide to run it as a story, it’s old news if it’s been on the forums already…if I build it and we decide not to run it as a story, then it will appear here in full or as a PDF download on the website.
I didn’t build the Tiger I in FSM a few years ago, that was Terry Thompson.
I love the Jagdpanther nearly as much as the kitties. Yes, I won’t miss it, come hell or high water (or is it “come hell nor high water”?) Please correct me.
The Jagdpanther at London’s Imperial War Museum was my first direct love experience with a tank! And, strangely I remember the first thing I did (besides admiring it’s beauty from a distance and from several angles and smiling like a kid at Christmas and shaking uncontollably - and this was only a couple of years ago!) was to bang my fist really hard against the side armour to see if it was real ! Lol, it was meant to withstand more than my fist! (it still hurts)
And yes for those interested, I believe a member of the forum has got what may be his last “run” of belly plates in stock and for sale at the moment. Tiger 1, King Tiger and an internal Sherman with Daryl Turner’s gearbox brace too! Mega! Email him direct for details. I love them, and I’m sure all the other members of this forum thread who have purchased do too! Post your reviews!
And… for those long awaiting the King’s Aber release… I have heard nothing from Aber but there is a little something happening at www.wecohe.de that seems interesting.
Regards, and it’s only a couple of months to go until the Jagd’s appearance…
(I’ve wet myself already)
Thanks for the booster, and from my best customer too. [bow]
Sadly, one of the Sherman sets is ~already~ reserved to a past KT & T1 customer. He was so happy when they arrived, he e-mailed me right away to reserve the set! [tup]
On JadgP’s in the UK:
Tell us you’re going to be there with a god video rig, and take some VCD footage like they did forthe Tiger during the Bovington run! I’ve got the startup clip… D*mn that beast was a pain to start.
Can you imagine what it was like to start those Mayback units in the winter? Now we know why they used the Kubel’s as boosters to turn the engine over.
Re other releases:
I have sources that say we may be seeing new Allied & Russian ammunition stocks in the near future. Images & measurements were acquired, and have been sent to a machinist to have masters made, and then are to be sent on to the casters.
One thing that is still looked for is good data on the Brit Firefly barrel & brake. If you have one nearby that can be used for measurements, please let me know.
Tom ,
I did not want to start a fight …
just trying to explore why some people have noise problems ,
that’s why I offered you to check it out and may just replace them ,
even thought you did not get them from me ….
I do all this as a hobby , not as a business ….
And Tom , you don’t have to tell me how and when to answer emails or posts …
As I said , I do this as a hobby ….
I have a very busy live , my job comes first , then the hobby ……
And I do not create any products with the purpose of selling ,
I share my own creations or improvements with my fellow hobbyists …
And why should I drop this ?
This is a forum to share experiences ….
I do not intend or even want to sell anything here …
But I would like to help out the guys saying there are have my gear reductions and having problems with them …
What’s wrong with that ?
And again …
These gear reductions are so simple , there is nothing what needs to be improved ,
It just takes proper installation …
if there is any noise then it’s only possible from not proper set gear-backlash …
either from the motor-pinion to the spur gear of the gear reduction ,
Or from the output gear from the gear reduction to the spur gear of the Tamiya gearbox …
Since my gear reductions are predrilled for each type gearbox ,
this backlash adjustment should be okay ,
Except if there is something wrong with the Tamiya gearbox itself …
What could be possible ,
since I have encountered that some Tamiya gearboxes are bend ,
therefore it will change the backlash between the gears ……
It’s also possible , since I made several versions of these gear reductions with different output gears from 11 to 18 tooth gears , that you may have ( just as an example ) a gear reduction what had at one time a 12 tooth output gear and someone changed it to a 13 tooth … this will decrease the gear-backlash and may result in higher noise ….
Hope these infos will help the guys having problems ,
Even thought I did not get any reply’s from anybody else about this ,
Even thought I was asking who ever has problems with these gear reductions ,
( no matter if he did get them from me or not ) ,
to contacted me , I am more when happy to help to solve the problem ….
Wlad ,
these Weheco gearboxes are for sure nice …
expensive , but well worth the money …
I made a similar setup based on the old style Tamiya gearboxes ,
( including a all ballbearing setup ! )
here are more detailes :
and yes these HPC gears are expensive as well but worth it ,
and getting them from Bob cheaper ,
the reason for that is : since he buys them in larger quanitys …
in your case of course it’s kind a funny , buying a UK product via the US …
these older style Tamiya gearboxes , if modified either with Weheco parts ,
or the way I did it , are fore sure much more durable as the stock new styles …
I still run these modified old style gearboxes in my Tiger’s …
even thought a lot of cash involveld , I do this anytime again ,
nothing like a true to scale Tiger with unstopable crushing power …
No need for the thanks, I am just telling the truth.
Do not fear, I shall be there to witness the Jagd, gotta get a camera and video camera (or hopefully convince a friend with far better skills than I to be there) but fear not I’m sure it will be well covered by all manner of folk in the UK with the intention of posting for all to see. These things are not likely to happen again in my lifetime and maybe even yours! You have to share it! I can’t wait!!! Oh no, wet myself again…
As far as the Bovy Tiger is concerned, I believe they actually blew the very original motor completely, and beyond salvage in testing after the refurb! Something to do with the magneto’s??? I don’t know about real motors. The replacement motor (upgraded model) was actually taken from the Porsche King Tiger that was on static display (removed from the tank) there.
And to let all know, I have ordered a set of gear reductions from Willy for another one of my Tigers. After all, there is nothing quite like getting the best there is, direct from the person that invented them, is there? As I believe all those customers that have ordered “direct” from Willy already know and have posted elsewhere. And thanks Willy for your consistent innovation in this hobby and your willingness to share your information via your website. It is an inspiration to me.
