Hello everyone. This is my first time posting on this forum. I need armor modeling help for an Israeli M50 Super Sherman. I can’t find the DML M50 Super Sherman since it’s been OOP for a long time now. I don’t know if Dragon Models will re-issue this kit. Anyway, here is the dilemna: I want to complete my collection of Israeli AFV. Is there anyway to backdate an Academy M51 Isherman to a M50 Super Sherman? I have looked on www. Israeli-weapons.com and there is mention that the M50 was modified from French M4A3/A4 hulls with HVSS. I know that the barrel is a French made CN 50 75mm gun? However, there is no mention for type of turret, mantlet/gun shield, or tracks used. Can anyone give me some options/suggestions? Thanks, Arnel Flandez-SJ,CA.
Welcome!!
There is one on Ebay that might save you the extra work
Hi aflandez,
First, let me say welcome [#welcome].
I have heard that you can also use the Dragon M-51 kit #3529 to build the M-50 as it has the parts for both. You may have to do some research to find out what parts to use.
Hopefully some one can come along and provide additional information.

Thanks so much. I totally forgot about Ebay. I had one bad experience and haven’t returned since. I will give it another try.
Thanks for the suggestion Panther 44. I will look into this option as well. I haven’t seen to many reviews on this DML kit. I will definitely do more research to find out what parts I need to use. Thanks again.
aflandez,
This is from a review of kits from AMPS from a few years ago,
Kit # 3529
Israeli M51 Isherman-- Very good. Tons of parts and the DML “select-a-sprue” system of mixing Sherman parts provides all the parts needed to make either an M50 on an M4A1 chassis or an M51. Some minor problems in the directions and not all the parts needed are called out on the plans.
Sounds to me as if all the parts needed for the M50 will be there, you just need to be able to determine which ones to use.
Perhaps if you can find the M51 kit some one may be able to help you with copies of DML’s M50 kit’s instuctions.
Wishing you the best in your search.

Thanks for the Heads up Panther 44 (aka Joe). I went to Ebay and found a Dragon M50 kit from JWest21 suggestion. Thanks for the AMPS article. I went to another site for Israeli armor and showed picts. of some M50 Super Shermans. So, I think I am off to a good start. Thanks for all your help. Happy Modeling to All and to All a Good Night! AFlandez.
Glad it worked out. Looking forward to some pictures.
I have a few pics of a M50 on my site: http://www.toadmanstankpictures.com/m50.htm
Hope these help.
Thank you so much Chris “Toadman” Hughes. I appreciate all your help. The pix for the M50 Super Sherman are just what reference I need. Tank (on purpose) you very much!
Hope you catch the kit on ebay.
If you do decide to convert the Academy M-51 to an M-50 please take note that many M-50’s were based on m4a3’s and only a handful on m4a1’s. The Academy kit is based on an m4a1 chassis so there is a good chance that a conversion would be possible.
Thanks for the sitrep Dwight Ta-ala. Maraming salamat po (sorry for mis-spelling). English: Thank you respectfully. I followed JWest21 suggestion and purchased DML’s M50 Super Sherman from Ebay. I don’t know much of this kit so hopefully it has an M4A3 chassis. I hope I do not have to kitbash any major parts from another kit manufacturer. I will probably use aftermarket accessories to get this subject as accurate as possible. Tanks (on purpose) again.
